[VSA] Volume Spread Analsysis Part III
bbj_anchor replied to Eiger's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
I'm warning all to not give CC# to TradeGuider or VSA club as they will never stop charging you. And refunds dont come... lots of talk but then I dont know why that happens is retort. I had to get visa involved and 3 months charges still havent been returned. Just FYI -

[VSA] Volume Spread Analsysis Part III
bbj_anchor replied to Eiger's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
It appears to me that the trend changed with Climax up bar[bC] so the prevailing trend is DOWN. [4] could be an upthrust which is bearish also the range increase also adds to the bearishness. Tradeguider guy, Gavin, always waits for this that or the other to confirm. I would say down and I dont know ES at all. what happened is not something I know, but I'd take the play for downside! Thrusts are incredibly strong! BillyBobJoe -
I've just gone thru the thread... is there a NINJA version on here any where? I'd like one as using Zen-fire w/NT and find the data is excellent and I'm not a programmer (trying to learn NT scripting). I think this indicator is quite telling and would love to have a NT version to play with.. enhance my trading! I saw some disparaging comments about VSA in my wandering. the use of upthrusts and downthrusts has improved my entry/exits emensely... I have watched many of TradeGuiders video/webinars live, and frequently out do them with their own indicators/ideas... but they wait for confirmations of one sort or another. This indicator would likely be my confirmation in my mind. Thanks for your help. BillyBob

Upthrusts and downthrusts... VSA major signals... they wait for confirmation etc... just go they are powerful! sometimes some sideways but almost never a wrong indicator... use as a confirmation of you plays... NEVER go against it you will get killed! I wrote an excel spredsheet that kinda finds THRUSTS... just using 3 randomly picked stocks the ones that went opposite the thrust was huge considering NOTHING else was used! -

Now a PLEADING... anyone done an excel program that points out any of the patterns... ie weakness vs strength etc? I'd love to see it if so... I've messed with building a thrust indicator but I'm not an excel or programming guy. I got something that works well enough, but misses a lot of real thrusts... kinda junk actually, but I tried. I have an old VSA7 that works but getting data into it is a problem as I forgot how. Any ideas there? I can get the metastock files created, but have forgotten the last step to get VSA to see them (oldtimers disease?). Any help would be appreciated, thanks BillyBob -

I joined this thread a month or so ago, posted a file that I asked for input as to whether VSA could pick trades from it to make them better. I got do some studying etc... I did and attended a webinar hosted by Gavin at TradeGuider yesterday... he got 4 pts from a trade I got 12 ! I was commenting to him and he was quite surprised and said "good call" to me on the webinar (I believe it can be watched from site archives) I also called up at shows end. run went from 912 to 900 opposite thrust from 901 to 906 and then thrust again from 906 to 898! ... ~24 points in 2 hours on ES minis esm09? which I have never even traded and had to call and ask what we were trading! and the only indicator I even worry about is "thrusts" up or down. Analysing my file with just that... I had 60 wins- 7 losses and 12 likely minor win/loss/even vs origional file with 80 wins- 25 losses -8 whatevers.... The "thrusts" are waaay strong and the need to confirm etc is somewhat a loss of valuable profit. The only other thing I watch now is where the resistance and supports are... BBands & 50 day MA & previous Highs and Lows. I watch these as the BIGs are aware of them and that's why stocks often stop/stall there... you will want ample room to have a large trade potential. Thanks to a couple guys who blew me off and got me motivated to read the books and think a bit, BillyBob -
VSA7 is an old origional version of what is now called TradeGuider for trading the markets FOREX stck market etc. FYI

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
Yahoo think I'm getting it... XLF plummeted to just under 9.50 as early part of a downthrust! expect up move shortly.. and next stop... ~$13. (per P&F charts, I learned here also!) will quite likely be another down thrust at end of this accumulation too. Indexes arent something I've really looked at so this is a new endeavour for me but first call was dead on using VSA only with no knowledge of indexes!!!- 2244 replies

Seems to me #10-1 is stop volume 10 is a huge downthrust. This (10) would be time to go long? BIGS start all over again (seems often the pattern with a flattening out for a bit somewhere soon to buy some supply to finish the mark up again!).
-
Bar after #1 appears to be a downthrust! I find thrusts to be really huge indicator. Direction WILL change, but making $$$ could be delayed a bit as Bigs accumulate before driving market up again. This time frame that isnt long for 30pts! VSA awesome same anytimeframe! Use look at multiple time frames if good also in longer, indication of stronger move. IMHO

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
Eiger, I read your posts and have learned a lot in last 4 days. My question is... why the thread is primarily focused on VSA and indexes, forex etc? Seems and please correct me, that the smart money would really have a slim chance of individually moving them or even collectively moving them due to the # of companies in an index or huge volumes involved in forex etc. Wouldnt it be much easier with better/same results to act upon a single equity where float volumes are mere millions? The reason I ask as equities has been my focus for last 8500 hrs of study. Am I mis guided somehow? Thanks, BBJ Also on your XLF chart would you expect this move up to end? seems no return for SM on the high volume 5days ago and no interest by SM to play showing no volume at support line? My limited knowledge would "guess" a drop to $9.50 for a retest... then re-evaluate move and SM from there? right???- 2244 replies

BBJ_1 seems Sept1st is a strong test for supply with large volumes preceding would indicate low supply. thus making downthust following very strong??? Am I right? Thanks, BBJ- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
well, I'll need a lot more study but I was kinda looking for some help seeing if there was a correlation with my "finds" and VSA (and subsequently P&F). I am getting strong correlation for sure but still would like to get a couple of more experienced opinions early on if possible. Thus far my wins with Options are lines 4,7,11,14,19,21 and my loss is line 15. Have a look at what would have been made! Now in addition to looking at what I dont see in my loser I would like to know if there is a really strong indicator of weakness in BBJ_4. This will be another loser unless there is. I'm just asking for one last confirmation of what I cant see...YET! does BBJ_4 show weakness just prior/on/after 20050103? Thanks so much this is amazing stuff! BillyBob- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
Wow, this is cool! Started looking at my list and with info I have learned in two days I have 4big wins 2 solid wins and one loss. This is my next one and I dont see (with my new eyes!) much until the last bar which is a downthrust for sure and starts move in my dirrection. Would someone have a look and let me know if much else between the 22nd and the 8th sept, please. This is pretty amazing stuff, and with my data derived by a totally different hypothesis and data set it's pretty strong stuff! Thanks to all, I'll be going thru my list to see what I see, and thanks sevensa for getting me off my a$$ to learn a thing or two! BillyBob Joe PS I added another file w/edit... this is my loser... on 20060831 was my indicator to go down. I should have waited/passed... I dont see much to say down in this time frame... but I'm totally new... I want to set my direction in <1 week after signal... any signal down in this 2nd chart? Thanks again- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
I have now read the book and have gone back through the thread. Pretty awesome. Now I will have a look at the stocks on my list. First a question... I will be trading US equity options as they offer huge reward and I think I have them figured out pretty well (as far as I have gone!)... if the time frame/window of the trade is 1 wk to 3 months... what time frame would be recommended for watching VSA set ups? I would use daily/intraday for entry points, I think. Would watching weekly have any validity? Thanks for the help. BillyBob- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II

You are likely right but if someone looked and found some profound relevance... a pattern etc... I will be posting my picks on a free automated website and whomever can have and use them. Here is URL explaining what I am doing. Thanks to anyone who has an interest as there is huge up/down moves being made in almost all of the stocks listed. Most moves in first week or two. I think the prior days activity will show what the absolute end direction will be as options volume is unusual on all of the tickers listed. MMakers would be doing something to cover their backside. Thanks if you take the time and if you dont thanks for reading this. BBJ- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
bbj_anchor replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
I don't have a VSA analysis. I think somewhere I may have an old version as seemed interesting back in the day but I was working on a different hypothesis and methodology. I was hoping is someone has the software and some time they could have a look (I'm assuming that you can set time window and get historic EOD data in easily as well?). My methodology uses options data and doesnt look at any T/A indicators etc as they seem in my tests to seriously lag in time regardless of time periods set. Mine seems a precursor, but I get opposite direction sometimes which I'm thinking VSA usage may reduce or eliminate. VSA ,as I have read, is atleast quite timely as is in virtual real time. I suspect that since my indicators are with EOD data the previous day's VSA will show some pretty cool indications as "big boys' and MMakers will have been doing their thing. Thanks for the interest and hope this perks your interest. OH, does the VSA likely work in daily time frames or primarily in sub daily time frames as I dont know if previous days data is available historically. Actually, I have no idea what I might expect to be seen as not familiar with VSA other than I believe I had the origional program from 8yrs or so ago and may still have it, I'm looking for it but know it doesnt have all the neat notes I've seen in the current versions. Thanks, all of you who have looked, BBJ- 2244 replies
