  1. If you are going to be successful at it, you should be passionate about trading. You don't always have to enjoy all aspects of it though. Let me ask you a question. Do you believe your failures are due to inability to apply what you've learnt effectively or is what you've learnt a less than comprehensive picture of the market? Trading does take time to master. My suggestion is do what you can right now to be organised and disciplined in your approach. Create a routine and stick to it. That'll help you notice what's going on around you, notice when things have changed and also notice things which the market does pretty consistently.
  2. I'd agree. Although the one thing that would maybe make me step back is that activity is very low and it might be easy to manipulate. If you think it'll stop at 52, it'll stop at 49, if you think it'll stop at 49 it'll be pushed to 44. Most likely, this is the kinda trading that if you are on the wrong side, you'll get knocked out of the trade right on the turn.
  3. Not to say it can't/won't go, but if there were any real sellers involved in that push, I would've thought it would have gone already. Any thoughts?
  4. Another point for consideration is that the open has been tested several times and failed to break properly.
  5. Indeed. Although the volume is mostly below the open, it's also mostly above the 1252 ON low and low of the day so far was stopped by minor low vol on big profile/psychological 50 area. If I have an idea and it isn't working, I try to step back to consider why.
  6. I am seeing a very balanced profile with the VPOC bang in the middle of an 8pt range with virtually the same volume above and below. No drive yet.
  7. Yes. I would say that there is another more immediate step to take- identify why you are losing money. You may be able to fix this, you may not. But if you don't ask why you are losing money, changing markets may not help you at all and in fact make things worse. There's a lot to be said for knowing your market.
  8. If you are a day trader and don't trade ES, I would argue that right now there is every reason to switch TO trading it. ES is a really good instrument for daytrading right now.
  9. From an auction perspective there is another thing to consider here. IF we retake Friday's low 1252.50 and hold above it, there is a good chance their will be a test towards Close/VPOC then Highs of Fri. Just an if
  10. Well so far the scenario gave a nice little entry for a move from 58ish to 52ish. If it takes it properly, next test on the way to 37 area is 49.25 then 44, followed by 41.50. Edit: 44.75 is also last weds VPOC too.
  11. A new week, a new PM. Well for some people anyway. Friday looks to have been pretty slow compared with recent days. Lower volume, smaller range. One move and then sideways. We'll have to see what happens today, but here's a scenario in my chart.
  12. Thanks buddy! Not that I have been watching too much, but I'd say low was a rejection. So long as 29.75/IB Low isn't re-breached I would think there's a good chance of new highs. Gotta keep an eye on news though. Also quite a clear downtrend currently needs to be taken out(and lower lows halted)
  13. Hmm. Interesting. So that being the case, it's likely to be the ISP, (the cable to the property), the router, the medium between the router and pc, the network adapter, the OS or NT7 itself. If at all possible then the next step would be to try a clean install on an alternative PC. If it works, then at least you can rule out the first four possibles. Incidentally, I don't think shooly has responded to any of this yet!
  14. Aida64 possibly. From Lavalys who did Everest. Probably doesn't mean a whole heap to you so just download it and take a look. aida64
  15. Is that because the timer needs to be based off of the incoming timestamps?
  16. I don't think that's what was being said as such. A bar timer is going to be based on time elapsed and not new data coming in. So I don't think it would be idle if new data was coming in in this case. I suspect there is a bottleneck in his system and probably one where the software is either screwed up, corrupted or even infected. Although I think it's going to be about the OS. As much as it annoys the hell out of anyone, I would strongly suggest to do a clean install and OS tweak then re-installing NT7. If you have lots of stuff on your drive which you don't want to lose, get another small drive to do the install on. If you don't know how to do it, ask and one of us will find a guide for you(although it's not exactly complicated either).
  17. so what about the rest of the operating system (may be other stuff running for example which uses .net) and simply the gazillion different indicators some people use? Slow PC = slow responsiveness.
  18. Welcome to the TL! Oanda I think is a decent starting place(although I'm not an fx trader myself).
  19. I know there was news out at the time, but this is how I read the action there at the low. Edit: That is a 2500vol chart for anyone who's interested.
  20. Bit of an Open-Auction type opening here. Whichever way we do break, I'd suggest there may be a decent move.
  21. Yup, that's pretty much it! We'll see what happens now though. Watch that Euro!
  22. You still short any ES Steve? Market tanked so far in the European session! Euro isn't doing too well. Anyway, did anyone notice the high yesterday? 1275.25 which was exactly that important low volume to the tick. It's a shame it happened late on for me otherwise I may have shorted it. Oh well. My head is fuzzy today due to being under the weather so I won't be trading. One scenario I might look for though is if market opens and tests the 1241.50, fails and moves back up towards 1266.50. Just one option though. Could also move to test yesterday's low 1251.50, fail and then look for buyers towards the 1229.75 area. Just another option. Anything I am saying is just about possibilities. You always have to judge for yourself, assess the situation and take responsibility for your own trades. That being said:-
