85.50? For which session? There was a strong reaction at the low there from what I saw.

The Secret to Better Fills, Less Slippage, and Fewer Stop Outs

You're not being picky at all Josh. It's how the market does work and it is important.- 23 replies

Hey Josh. I suspect that ES will test at least 80.75 again and perhaps lower early on. FOMC mins may well be something that gives some hope to the market though. So I'm expecting sell-off and then gradual move higher. Could be very wrong though :o

Good morning folks! GDP out in a few mins followed by FOMC minutes at 2pm EST. Probably why overnight action has been a little muted.

The Secret to Better Fills, Less Slippage, and Fewer Stop Outs
TheNegotiator replied to TimRacette's topic in Trading
Everyone, not to be churlish about the topic, but seriously if you aren't aware of different order types availble and what they do, just explore your platform and try them out on the simulator. This is really really basic stuff- not a secret. If you want great fills, do your homework, trade a liquid market and sit in an office right next to the exchange!- 23 replies

Considerations for a Wannabe Trader...
TheNegotiator replied to TheNegotiator's topic in Beginners Forum
Hi Raul and welcome to TL! A couple of comments. Timeframe/method- Wow. If it works, good for you. Otherwise, try to simplify not complicate your trading. Seriously, it's hard to focus on many different and complicated indicators. Computer- If you run anything other than windows xp sp1 then you'll be getting clogged up with such old systems. OS updates and just background stuff like flash and java will hog resources on a system in which they are already low. If you use such a system, make sure it's clean and very well customised, turning off all unnecessary services etc.. Up to you though. -
Does My Broker Pocket the Spread when I Take a Trade?
TheNegotiator replied to abuguapo's topic in Brokers and Data Feeds
I'd look at your trade execution report too. It could be that you are using a market order rather than limit and due to feed or your connection latency, the market is not where you think it is when you place the trade. A market order will still fill you though at best possible price. -
The "Flip" Trade (support and resistance changing roles)
TheNegotiator replied to walterw's topic in Technical Analysis
Such a simple idea and yet so often a really profitable method if executed well. This is just the same as a trade I took yesterday in the ES. Broke through IB low, extended, retraced to IB low, made new lows. Cracking trade. Take a look at this thread for the chart:- Day Trading the E-mini Futures -
Why not just use this thread to post your method and results?
-
You just take your position and hold it. Same as day trading, just you hold your position through close. You can look at 60min, 4hour, daily, weekly, monthly and possibly yearly. I think trading could be possible, but maybe you could look at something like fx (even fx futures) as they have a few different options for contract size. Might suit you better.

Which rules are you following? There's no info in the link(which btw you shouldn't really post).

So we finally managed to trade the 1180.75(well 80.50)!

This one is a 2.5k but 2k should be fine also. Just whatever you prefer. I'll also look at around 5k at some points too. Just remember though if you are looking at volume charts you need to be aware of lunchtime lull.

Clarity is gained through a combination of knowledge and experience. It's good that you have it now, but like us all at some stage I am sure it wouldn't have always been so clear. Anyway, my 84 area was hit and there was some buying, but really I want to see 80.75.

Well I hope everyone had a great weekend. ES is lower overnight so far and unless it pulls a big move out of the hat it is going to gap lower on open. As it has dropped below its last balance low 1206.50, that would be my first point of reference before the higher Friday close 1213.50. Whether we get early week responsive buying is a question I'd like answered as I don't think things are looking so rosy right now. Hiccups with previous Eurozone problems and more focus on who's next have the market in sceptical mood imo. I'd like to see a move up to judge it before commiting to short. That said, it could also tank on open. But who truly knows. That's the beauty of this game.

Plenty of interesting structure for trading today. I left the chart fairly clear so you can just deliberate it without too much influence. I believe it's options expiration Friday.

To be clear here for anyone who doesn't know, Steve's talking above cash close at 16:00 EST. Steve you'll have to elaborate on this "sequencing" method.

Yes definitely. Getting something "on the board" gives you a platform to build on. Pushed a bit lower since suggestion that low might be in. Target to see if a move up is possible is going to be 16.25/17.00 area in my mind.

Well we pushed the current balance low at 1209.25 by 2 ticks only to fail there. What I am noticing is the reaction to the 1211 area from the last balance profile. Possibly, we have our low already, but who knows really. More fed chatter could be just around the corner...
