  1. Don't get suckered into that game though imo Josh. The opening was again OD/OTD so confident and down. It's normally better imo on days with OD/OTD opening types to let it reverse properly before considering a counter trade. So if the standard rotation has been around 3pts, I'd want to see 4+ at least before I'd start to think about a long position.
  2. No. VWAP = Volume Weighted Average Price. jperl did a good series on this topic here:- http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/market-profile/4803-trading-market-statistics-links.html
  3. VPOC = Volume Point of Control = most traded single price in selected timeframe (usually day) Anything else, just ask!
  4. Well China GDP came out low contrary to the rumour and overnight ES did sell off. 77's from yesterday which are the current overnight low is where there is a vacuum of volume. Next below that is around 73.50 and much below that, yesterday at least offers little support. Most of the volume overnight is below the thurs close and if we get there again, this could be a critical area, before the 92.50 area I mentioned yesterday. NFP SOC, Balance VPOC, naked day VPOC all acting to draw price potentially. Apart from China, after close Google and early today JPM and WFC all beat earnings estimates. US CPI came in pretty much in line a short while ago and then we have Michigan Conf @ 9:55ET. Fed's Dudley and Bernanke speaking later. Imho there are reasons to go down, but in all possibly more to go up. How, where and when are different matters though.
  5. I'm not an expert here at all, but would say that it's pot luck in a race like this. Going for a spread is potentially a good ploy. Maybe one of the favourites, one with mid odds and a real outsider. I'm sure there are people with lots of systems who look at lots of records and form etc., but none of that is likely to help in one single race surely?
  6. Noting that although it's April, it's still Friday 13th if you're into that superstitious lark. More importantly, JPM and WFC are due to report today @ 7 & 8 am EST respectively. Watch those financials!!!
  7. Interestingly, this is what the definition of "squawk" is on dictionary.com:- squawk I particularly like #2!
  8. Yesterday was a classic of squawks trying to relay news to justify moves. Rumours were that China GDP was going to come in higher than the expected 8.4% at 9.0%. Obviously that was why stock indices were rising! Well maybe a little, maybe not at all. Who really knows. There was another rumour that it'd come out worse. Go figure. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/china-gdp-misses-expectations-mile-rises-only-81 I know that for me, I had already taken account of the market technically and felt a rise was possible. Perhaps not to the extent we saw, but nonetheless. After a big drop on Tuesday, the price was clearly right and when you have quick unsustained moves, strong reversals are always a possibilty. My point is you have to take into account what is going on in the outside world, but not allow it to sway you too much from what is happening on your screen. Sure, yesterday we moved 'with' the rumour, but this isn't always the way. For today, I'm not going to be biased into selling either because it actually came in well below expectations and even further below the rumour. What the market tells me about its intentions will hold the most significant weight in my trading decisions. Squawks can be invaluable to relying critical information in a timely manner, but they can also muddy the water and distract your attention just that little bit too much from the market action if you're not careful.
  9. Surely you mean retest 1400? Wouldn't it be useful to post a diagram to show why you reversed at 66.75?
  10. Okay, well I hope nobody got too badly hurt today and hopefully some made some good $! If you did do badly, don't beat yourself up over it too much. Tomorrow is another day. Trade well and the market will reward you- well possibly and over a big enough sample See you all tomorrow! :missy:
  11. GOOG Google Inc Q1 2012 Google Earnings Release EPS $ 10.08 actual $ 9.65 expected
  12. This is what we all wanted to do today! (j/k) Edit: Although the original picture probably was a more accurate dipiction than I had originally intended, once I realised where the mouse had been positioned and what it looked like, censorship was required!
