  1. It certainly "can't do no harm" can it Ur......... or I mean Ta.......... or what I meant to say was, mslk Sorry about that, seems I made a few typo's..... well what's the point in taking all that time to erase them. I'm glad you've had such a change of heart and have come to see things in a new light I look forward to more insightful posts from you in the future. I'll never forget the things I've learnt from your previous post, it was a real eye opener.
  2. No trouble we'll let your local police, hospital and fire station know that you don't need anyone to protect you. Why in the world would you reject help and protection. I'm sure that you don't represent the views of all "newbie" members as you seem to be trying so hard to remind us of your alleged "newbie" status. You just can never tell these days!!
  3. As you've been a member here for only a "short time" perhaps it's a bigger "deal," than you realize. Funny that your care free attitude doesn't extend to ignoring this thread and these posts!! If one didn't know better it would seem like you were posting on someone else' behalf or as an alias. But I'm sure that would never happen right!! Your interest and love for vendors is certainly a unique one. "Spammy stuff" is a subtle art nowadays, it starts by educating people that you need them and before long your shelling out money to someone who knows no more than you do. Why not give people a heads up on the possible intentions of a vendor? I mean a guy like you would never want someone else to get ripped off right?
  4. How would it interfere with Pat continuing to contribute if he was labeled a vendor? How would it change the richness of the content posted? A teacher is a great one when no ill motive is attached to his method. If a teacher teaches you something in order to benefit from you then is he in fact teaching you the truth or is he corralling and trapping your perceptions in order to point you in his direction? Disclosing intent is valuable to you and I as students and to the new members of this community. There is no good reason to stand against it. You expect it from others who are in the public domain so why not here?
  5. Thanks MMS, just a final note. Those who don't want to be labeled are the vendors! So it goes without saying that they don't want to appear as such.
  6. Steve, please look at the post just before that one. It will be obvious that I was speaking of electroniclocal. As to the need for transparency on the site I would think any member who wants the best for the TL community would appreciate that other members with self interests who are sellers/vendors should be identified as such for everyones good. Why would you resist that? When a non seller/ regular member of TL posts, it is in the search for truth/help that he does so. When a vendor posts it must always be noted that he may not be trying to help but to sell and to trap other members with a constant sales pitch.
  7. Good point. I guess it would be best to label them all and let each individual decide for themselves.
  8. The reason for the degeneration is that the problem is not being dealt with and people are becoming tired with an excess of self promotion by non contributing vendors. By labeling all vendors you begin the exercise of sorting through and separating the good ones from the bad ones.
  9. Pat I am absolutely not in favor of censoring content. You already know that in my opinion your posts are the most content rich on TL. A vendor wouldn't lose the right to post but for eveyones good would have to be a little more transparent about his motives. How would this affect a content rich poster who just happens to be a vendor as well? Your business would thrive because of it. It would be the perfect blend of information and reward for being such a help to the community. We who follow your posts know that there is way more in theory, not in code, that you could possibly offer. Why not just let it fly and watch how it benefits your business. I understand that there are boundaries a vendor would need to have as well, such as no begging for code or looking to exploit the vendor. Just my opinion Pat.
  10. Hi Pat Your game is in identifying the participant. It allows you to read intent into their actions. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong, but the probabilities allow you to trade on that perceived intention. Identifying a vendor helps you to draw a perception of someones intentions. Sometimes you're right and sometimes you're wrong, but what harm would it do to identify a participant as a vendor. In fact we would all benefit as they would have to part with more and more of their intellectual property in order for our perception of them to change and for them to be accepted and possibly benefit from the community here at TL.
  11. Moving forward, vendor identification is necessary. Is there agreement that once discovered or known upfront, all vendor posts should be easily identified as being from a person with self interests in the community. Perhaps their i.d. could show their vendor status or their posts could be highlighted in a different color. Any suggestions?
  12. What does the Chinese government demand from international companies who wish to use their workforce? "Intellectual property"! You must leave something of substance in the country in order to have your goods made there. TL must become the same. A vendor must be made to leave substantial theory with this laboratory before they are allowed to promote themselves. If you're not a part of this community you shouldn't be able to attempt to leach from it.
  13. Hows about we feel free to refute you and warn others of your less than selfless ambitions of getting into their pockets. You sir have no shame!
  14. OK, this is becoming laughable. What is this a monster truck rally? Firstly "electroniclocal" you are a vendor selling your upcoming seminar for what is it, $5000 for the 3-4 day seminar. Next "steve46" you too are a vendor who gets paid to teach others trading and lastly "UrmaBlume" you too are a vendor wanting $1400 per year for your tradestation indicator package add on. This is becoming a bit much!! I mean I appreciate good theory, but the self promotion is getting a little thick. So we would have had it all figured out if we had been reading your blog which leads us to need your overpriced seminar? I don't think so. When you've got the theory figured out you could trade profitably using an abacus. Electroniclocal, your contribution to TL has been pretty weak, to try and use it to fund your seminar habit is shameful.
  15. Thanks Pat, my learning curve is still steep. Forgive my ignorance!! I'm learning to identify imbalance and entrance of strong anti trend participation. Thanks for the reply!
  16. Thanks Pat When I check out your website it seems to break down imbalances in normalized trade and normalized volatility in your scanset 2.0. Are both of these metrics based upon imbalance in the now or are they based upon a comparative behaviour of x number of days worth of average volatility / volume. The reason I ask is wouldn't the chosen number of days in your average begin to skew your results/analysis if the nature of the markets change in the short term.
  17. Pat, when it comes to changes in net new trade are you basing it on differences in average cumulative volume for a time period or are you actually basing it on buyer seller imbalances? Thanks, Cory
  18. This book teaches you how to identify problems with your data mining techniques. It also teaches you how to apply a Monte Carlo or bootstrapping technique to your statistical sampling process. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for or not. It does not uncover any secret indicators. It simply teaches you how to analyze your own methodology and decide upon it's statistical reliability to be profitable or not.
  19. This book does not make any attempts to make a study of the things you've mentioned. It only leads you as to how you should go about studying the markets in a statistically relevant fashion. The title of the book is a little misleading. There are no technical analysis tools mentioned, just a leading of how to properly analyze the validity of your proposed method to see if it might be successful or not.
  20. Finished the book a few months ago. It takes some time to digest but I agree with you. It's a good book.
  21. Whether right or wrong MM, you are generalizing. I'm sure there are vendors who have risk to reward ratios in keeping with reality. As none of us have purchased Pat's indicators or service why subject him or it to unjustified ridicule. Are vendors a certain height or weight as well? I have no idea as to whether or not Pat's service is worthwhile but I sure appreciate him sharing his knowledge and well thought through insight. If you have something to say contrary or in addition to his theory than let us know, otherwise please don't scare him away from TL or we'll have nothing but elliott waves to count or fibonacci ratios to debate about instead of some more meaty theory to dig into.
  22. With all due respect Josh, I don't think anyone is under any obligation to make market calls which might be misinterpreted by the hearer and open the sayer up to litigation. Pat's stuff is some of the most forward thinking theory available on TL and I'm just happy he keeps on writing on this site. I'm sure you've studied lots like the rest of us and if so you realize how hard it is to find good theory after a certain point. His theory is some of the best I've heard and if you'll just delve into that alone you'll end up the better for it. Just my opinion.
  23. Will do Josh, it's been alot of fun but I've got to go and get my wife some milk from the store. Maybe we'll hook up again later.I've been domesticated!!
  24. Joshdance, do you trade based upon chart patterns?
