  1. just so stupid. Man I swear, the more you know the more depressing crap gets.
  2. I have iphone 3g and its awesome. At first i couldn't even get a decent signal at a lot of places but now after having several frustrating updates it usually works fine. No flash definitely sucks. I nearly returned it because of it. I'm one of those with a broken silence tab switch thing. I also hate the fact that there isn't insurance available. I hope Apple replaces my phone. I don't want to jailbreak my phone but i prob will when the end of my contract gets near. My top reasons for having an iphone are: 1. Education never stops with the use of podcasts and audio files 2. Email access 3. quick access to internet for reference when im out and about 4. helps with boredom when while in waiting for doctor, traffic, whatever
  3. All I REALLY know is that I have never felt so much anxiety over who will lead the US. Too me, It just seems like I'm watching from the sidelines what the inevitable destiny that the universe will gravitate towards. Just my personal thought and feeling.
  4. So then why does the fed keep cutting rates again? seems like all they do is slab rates and shake the money tree.
  5. Anything that can land you a decent job when you need or want one. Finance, econ(stats included), psych are all good. I took an investment course where we managed an investment portfolio very conservatively in its attempt to teach value investing. It demonstrated a consistent unspectacular long term return. All of it can be self taught at the undergraduate level. Why the recommendations for business? Do you guys mean business as in corporate management or do you guys mean general business courses?
  6. Wow! RobinHood you sound like me when I was a teenager. I was always too busy eagerly reading non-fiction to even do my school work. I'm still unsure how I benefited from most of the reading I did back then.
  7. I'll be there Christmas week. Why is the highway patrol so uptight in Colorado? Every year someone in my party gets a ticket for something just ridiculous.
  8. Demonoid is back!!! God I love Traders Laboratory! btw, i stumbled upon this thread on a google search. I can give invites also. Any1? Any1 want to trade invites?
  9. I have a friend with a Mercedes. Isn't the cost for dealership maintenance insane?
  10. Ah! Owning Mahowny! Of course, how did I forget that one?!?! I recently saw Eastern Promises. It was pretty cool entertainment to me. The fight scene is one of a kind but it may make ya squirm.
  11. hehe...maybe you really do have to be a criminal to appreciate it. I think i understand why he did what he did. I think I would have done the same in his situation. Are you referring to the Open Range with Costner? I really want to see I am Legend before it exits the theater. I still haven't even seen American Gangster.
  12. 3:10 to Yuma I think this movie is a good one to watch if you have a criminal inclination that you have struggled with. Also, I grew up with my dad watching westerns starring Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson as heroes and I became the only Asian dude I know that is a fan of westerns. From IMBb: "Rancher Dan Evans heads into Bisbee to clear up issues concerning the sake of his land when he witnesses the closing events of a stagecoach robbery lead by famed outlaw Ben Wade. No sooner or later, Wade is captured by the law in Bisbee and Evans finds himself one of the escorts who will take Wade to the 3:10 to Yuma train in Contention for the reward of $200. Evans quest for taking Wade to the station is not only for saving for his land but an inner battle that he can be more than just a naive rancher in the eyes of his impetuous and gunslinging son William Evans. The transport to Contention is hazardous and filled with ambushes from Indians, pursuits by Wade's vengeful gang and Wade's own conniving and surreptitious demeanor that makes the ride all more intense."
  13. I'm not sure if this guy is even for real. I have a self-loathing blog that I won't even post here for you guys to laugh at.
  14. wonder how much management made
  15. Top ten hedge fund trades 2007 Top ten hedge fund trades, ‘07 edition http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2008/01/04/9913/top-ten-hedge-fund-trades-07-edition/
  16. Not sure where to place this thread linking to an article in futures magazine. "Just after midnight, Eastern time tonight, the earth will pass the Winter solstice , the point in its annual orbit around the sun where the northern hemisphere is pointed farthest away from the sun, causing the daytime hours to be the shortest relative to the night. This point also marks the point where henceforth, daylight in the northern hemisphere starts getting longer and longer and the darkness shorter and shorter." http://www.futuresmag.com/cms/futures/Breaking%20News/2007/12/21-Dec02
  17. No way! Try blinking or shaking your head while looking at it. It seems to change direction. At first I was thought it was a trick but it isn't. I just scrolled up...its counter again! Edit: I guess I'm both but it's no surprise. No wonder I'm such a mess a times.
  18. I'm right brained but it seems like im also left brained according to those category descriptions. Edit: OMG! What in the world!?! I tried to take another look at it and I saw a perfect counter clockwise motion. WHoa! It keeps changing on me!!!
  19. I need a job and I was surprised to find a job like that in my area. Do pretty much all firms want to hear that their trading desk analysts have the ultimate goal to actually be a trader?
  20. I'm having problems at home with my spouse and I don't even know where to start. I would just like to hear about how trading affects their relationships with other people. Anyone want to discuss their personal life here? BTW, you might want to make sure other people you know will not be upset to find out about your post...hehe
  21. Whoa! That was a quick response. I was researching the company and every time I got the blind courage to just apply for it, I remember I really don't qualify in any way. What am I supposed to say? Oh I'm just a wannabe trader and I'd like to be your assistant. I don't know jack but I'm a hard worker and i can figure it out.
  22. What would a trading desk analysts do at a fuel wholesale company? Here is the job description: "This person will assist the Financial Traders in entering daily futures into the trade system, verify and check daily futures trades, run ad hoc reports from trading system into Excel, verifiy daily P & L and position changes, corroborate all numbers with accounting department and maintain all related spreadsheets. Our ideal candidates will have the following experience: Strong experience with Excel including generating charts and tables Access and overall Windows operating systems Strong Organizational skills with filing systems both hard copy and with Document Imaging Problem solving skills Stable work history Strong work ethic Ability to communicate effectively over the phone " I think the description pretty much sums it up. Any input? I don't qualify for the job so I'm thinking of not even wasting my time and energy.
  23. oh crap! thats a lot of hours! I have a hard time just sitting still through a 30 min lecture.
  24. Sorry, I forgot to change the title of this thread when I changed the topic. I was going to see if any of the grain traders here thought a website that I found was of practical use but I saw that it wasn't kept current anymore.
