I coded my own version of the Universal System after watching a webinar by Dr. Clayburg. I am not yet convinced it is a profitable system over time. There is a great degree of subjectivity due to the need to continually re optimize. I would love to hear that someone has been using it for a while and has been doing well with it. If so I may revisit it and work with it some more.

Seeking Rec on Zen-fire Compatible Broker
XDTrader replied to taotree's topic in Brokers and Data Feeds
I use Mirus, and while I didn't find them all that personable, they have been spot on reliable. The Zen Fire data is excellent, executions also excellent. I am very pleased. -
Been a good week thus far. I mean, not Brownsfan good, but......

Be cautious with these instruments until you watch them for a while. They move fast and furious at times with exceptionally large wide range bars.

How Much Would You Pay to Learn from a Veteran Trader?
XDTrader replied to brownsfan019's topic in Futures
An Iron clad NDA, legal agreement, and future payments placed in escrow would seemingly prevent any potential "backfiring" imo. There is so much more to be gained than monetary compensation. That is a myopic view. Investing in the life of someone else yields lifelong, (perhaps longer?) rewards. It is usually when we die to self a little, WE are the ones that reap the most from the experience. -
I also have it, but please note you will get the same trend lines as are included with Tradestations own TL indicator. You just get the areas of congestion painted in white, plus you can choose the up or down colors for your lines and paintbars. I would take a look at using the standard TS first on different time frames. Try 1000 tick. I have been testing trading it as a methodology and it works pretty well.

Great job at maintaining your discipline. It can be tough staring at the market all day with no activity.
-
Good day overall for this strategy. Was one heck of a boring day however. I'll take it over a losing day though:)
-
Here are the results for this strategy on ES today. I am testing another strategy that was up very nicely on ES and Bonds yesterday and today. Further testing will be needed. BF I am very upset with your decision to thwart my efforts to reverse engineer your Uber fantastic method. Now your gonna just have to tell me;)

Outstanding start on your new approach. Great stuff!

Tough day. Was down pretty good until later this afternoon. Felt like the market was hunting my stops. I took a lot of trades so I am just doing the screen capture of my blotter.
-
Could only trade the morning session due to an obligation. After looking at the charts post market, I am fairly confident that had I traded the entire session I would have finished in the green, but there's always tomorrow. BF, I am eager to follow your multi market approach.

Thanks for your useful input and yes your right I could benefit from paying more attention to the longer term chart. A lot of days however I catch nice moves within the ranges when my volume indicator signals big size coming in. The only problem is at the highs or lows, the market gets jiggy, as I am sure you know, and I typically avoid those areas do to my tight 6 tick stop as well as it being a possible reversal area. As a newer full time trader I am constantly investigating new methodologies so I will be following your blog. It would be great if you would post your P&L here with the rest of us. It would be useful to see your daily equity swings with your method.

Thanks for your input. Sounds like you are a support and resistance trader. I am trading short term momentum. The one point is the first profit target on 3 contracts, then there is one contract left as a runner with a progressively tightening trailing stop. My method does not generally do well on choppy days. I am scalping and participating in the short term trend with my last contract using big relative volume as my bread and butter tool for entry.
-
Choppy day as I expected it would be after the monster move yesterday. +50 Buckaroonies. Giddy up.

Could you guys inform me on how to post pictures in full size? The way I am doing it they are showing as thumbnails. Edit: Never mind, I figured it out.

Todays Trades. Great way to start off the week. Missed the best trade of the day at 14:50 messing around relocating my home theater system. Working out of the house can lead to easy distractions.
-
Todays Trading. I am trying out the ZB and Euro, and it went really well today. Maybe just beginners luck. Thanks to BF for helping educate me on the nuances of the Bonds. I was up nicely on all 3 instruments. Also per my trading rules no afternoon trades on Friday.

BF has encouraged me to start posting my daily P&L so here goes. Currently they are in sim mode. I use a Ninja ATM strategy that takes me out 3 contracts at 4 ticks and brings my runner to break even. I then use a progressively tightening stop as the trade moves in my favor. This works well on ES, but I am not sure what to expect going forward on ZB or Euro. BF has advised me to go with fixed targets, but for now I am going to give my current strategy a chance. Time will tell. I will confess up front that I am a work in progress and trying to nail down the instrument and method that will work best for me in the future. I have committed all of 2009 to trading, and hopefully getting it right. As an entrepreneur at heart, that's a big step for me, but there is nothing that I enjoy more than what I am doing right now. This P&L is from yesterday.

Bond Futures, Not Sexy but Worth a Look!
XDTrader replied to brownsfan019's topic in The Candlestick Corner
Sounds like you keep it real simple. Do you look at volume charts, and if so what number volume bars? I am assuming since this is in the candlestick forums that you look for specific candle patterns at the S/R? -
Bond Futures, Not Sexy but Worth a Look!
XDTrader replied to brownsfan019's topic in The Candlestick Corner
Hi BF, I have been enjoying your threads and would be grateful if you would post some charts of your bond set ups. That is if you wouldn't mind. -
Hey Brownsfan, Been following your P&L thread with great interest. Would you mind sharing what your methodology is for trading the bonds? If you already have discussed it in another thread you can just point me in that direction. Thanks. I have your thread bookmarked and look forward to seeing how you finish up your day. I'm always pulling for ya! Best Regards, Bruce
