  1. James, thanks for the info, it's good to get a snapshot of what a typical trading day is like for the daytrader.
  2. Chris, To address this and the other posts you've made on this thread: You are absolutely right. And reading what you have written, I am in a very similar situation it seems. Just pretty much living life and cutting back on expenses. Me and my wife both work at a financial institution making decent money. I have put my career on hold and gone on cruise control so I can essentially be on auto-pilot all day and still be thinking about trading and not waste my mental resources and get burned out by the time I get home and the real work begins. My wife, however, has been moving up pretty quickly and we are almost to the point to if I wanted to quit and focus solely on the markets I could....but it would be a very close call....so we are hanging in there a while longer. So thanks for the ideas because I can relate to the situations you are mentioning.
  3. Yeah same here James. It took me about three hours to decide it wasn't for me.
  4. Walter, Hey so how far are you up on the mini icon? Very impressive set up.
  5. I am having the same problem right now.
  6. hmmm good idea. I am gonna try to troubleshoot. Thanks for the info!
  7. I like that alot. As much as the concept sucks, it is very true and many don't understand it. They expect to be making big money right out of the gates.
  8. hey that's a good idea! heh heh good one about scalping. lol
  9. yeah of course, but is the historical data not broken down into ticks? If I was trading real time, I would dish out the money...but all I need is data to replay at night to get screen time. Am I stupid or something? Just trying to figure out what I should do..I don't want to spend $500/mo on market replay data, you now? lol
  10. Okay I am looking into Opentick, seems it works with Sierra charts on CBOT minis for free...I am gonna check it out when I get home. Either that or open an account with Interactive Brokers or Open E Cry and just not trade...I know IB only charges $10 a month for data on an inactive acct, but I am worried OEC will close my account if I don't trade......Does anyone have any experience with that?
  11. Hey I like the stickers idea. My local paper had a similar contest...I took a pic in Somalia off the coast holding up their paper and they seemed to like it. (I'm from a tiny town in MS originally).
  12. This is what I propose: I am in the process of making the long transition of going from using EOD charts and trading longer term to attempting to focus more on Auction Market Theory, MP and a day trader time frame... What I plan to do is come up with a way to use a market replay feature so I can come home and replay tick charts and short term bars/candles along with MP. Since I won't actually be using the data in real time, I was hoping there may be a more economical option that having to pay for real time data and MP. I also definitely understand that it's a whole new ball game when one is actually day trading vs just building screen time (It works the same for swing trading and papertrading LOL). But at this point I figure my best bet is to just do some serious market replay when I get home and just get screen time and build an understanding through application. I was wondering if anyone knew any economical ways of doing this? I asked a version of this question before, but I wanted to be more specific with this one. Summary: I want to come home from work at night and spend time doing replays of tick/short term data of the previous trading day using Market Profile and volume data. Trying to keep from having to go all out on data expenses... Thanks a million in advance. End Of Day data is much more simple, and I just get a little confused with what I actually need to accomplish my goal of building up screen time.
  13. Very wise words. Thank you very much for the insight and advice.
  14. Tin, oh no, I am definitely not hardcore...I used to be! I still keep it up as much as I can without feeling like I am going nuts.....it's alot easier to find motivation to be in peak condition when you know you may be getting shot at...but when you work in an office, it's a lot different! I have found that muscles do in fact have memory...and it is alot easier to get back in chape once you have tuned yourself to that level before.... Another thing is that once you have crossed the threshold of where your brain can override your body (which will always try to tell you it can't do anymore)...you can pretty much do anything. It's a fact, the body can do ten times more than it thinks it can. You just have to override the feelings of wanting to quit....once you do, the change is permanent. I think there are some parallels to trading to be found in that statement as well.
  15. Thanks for the info. I definitely appreciate it. I agree, it is pretty much worth paying any price as far as time and effort go to have the freedom of working for yourself and trading for a living. Thanks for the ideas. I will definitely use them.
  16. Good to see this back at the top. Soul has made some excellent videos. I am going to roll up my sleeves and dig through them all again this weekend.

Hey Thoth that is good research info. Is this something you plan on keeping updated? Thanks. I am gonna give you a thumbs up on the vote.
  18. Most mac computers!!?? heh heh talk about a rigged game, TG. but yeah those ( the workspace things, etc) would be good contests too. Although I'd lose. Miserably. lol
  19. Man last night my computer (Vista) kept freezing up. I swear I was about to go off in the woods and blow my brains out! It is frustrating as all get out when that happens. Does anyone know what may be causing my browsers (I try IE and FF and they both screw up) to freeze all the time? Is it just glitches or is there parhaps another reason this is occuring?
  20. Hey James, I think that's a great idea. But make sure you keep some of the gift certificates for yourself man, I know how expensive those books can be! I really think the idea is excellent, as it helps encourage and reward those who have already been posting outstanding content here. There are a few in particular who are making a big difference for me in my transitional phase I am currently in as far as AMT, etc.
  21. Awesome info. This stuff is amazing. I know it sounds stupid, but this info is really helping me out.
