OK ok... too all our fans that our following this research progress, this FHR break test has been acomplete failure... Such as me and Don got a 50/50 performance on this test, taking the breaks of the range to get a 10 pip fixed profit... What did I learn ?... well I learned that most of the times the market has a wave pattern performance and taking a break its not allways the best way to make your way on the markets... its better to take the second Attempt... Its interesting but maybe you took the right trade but on the wrong moment... so Timing is the issue here... I still like the FHR break concept, but timing has to be modified... I have some clear ideas here so to make it more easy I will open a New thread about what I have... thanks for all the interaction so far on this thread... cheers Walter.

Welcome to mr Rumpled one... honor to have you here... cheers Walter.

Thanks for that information, I really was not much convinced about that... 16K I asume is the large contract then... cheers Walter.

Kind off... more an Icon I would say... but we shall understand that the spirit of the range break its still there... How was your test ?

Trading Coaches - Good, Bad or Indifferent?
walterw replied to brownsfan019's topic in Trading Psychology
No problem Reaver, if its boring normally is good... feel free whenever you feel confortable to open a thread about your method, it will be very nice to hear from... cheers Walter. -
Here is what I mean... lots of breaks that dont get to that +10 pips and finally you never get to the target taking a loss of -10 or worst... now going for a +10 on the second attempt is a good idea AND AND AND (going waco here) the stop 2 pips above the entry pivot so we can have tighter stops and a nice +10 profit giving a decent RRR... The idea idea STILL is to go in the direction of the break, but not on the break itself as on the second attempt... cheers Walter.

Got me curious here Reaver.. Do you trade long term ? cheers Walter. -
So far I had a good start.. then things got cyclical and I am having a dumb 50/50 performance... now there are days where he clean took off ( very few) that could be trailed... I still dont think that will be the key here as its very few days to count with... What I keep noticing is that there is an extreme amount of false breaks that after that on the second attempt they do work out... they create some kind of Icon morfology... it happens over and over again... Seems like taking the break itself its a 50/50 game thing but taking the second attempt could bring more chances of success... just ideas here cheers Walter.

Hi Don, glad to hear from you.. This will be an interesting weekend... I was wondering what would be your original stop criteria so far ? cheers Walter.
-
My two cents here... if for any reasons your position is not closed at the end of the session EMD margin is 16 k per contract... something to have in consideartion... cheers Walter.

Namstrader : very nice piece of reflexion ¡ I encourage you to keep wrighting, quite poetic and filosofical at the same time... So far since we are interacting here with Janice I had been experiencing some clear changes of actitudes on this issue... she bringed great inputs related to this acceptance of certain facts of life like you express above... and really its been encouraging to get more relaxed with oneself... Thanks for this inputs Nam and you know its true the fact we are quite isolated as traders, thats why sometimes sharing like this in a comunity like TL its realy nice.. cheers Walter.

So far as this test is evolving... from all my experience I understand that adding a fancy trailing system, will clearly boost the capacity of this nice simple method, I will share soon... I am truly enlighted at this stage and I feel that since I started to research on forex this probably is a new high on the process.... cheers Walter.

I already started my manual testing here and I am quite excited... my first idea entry +15 stop -oposite range its doing very BAD its clear that there is not a good RRR ... NOW the entry +10 stop -10 idea in a period so far of 8 weeks (2 months) is UP 183 pips with 29 positive days 1 day without trade and 8 negative days... ¡¡ I think Don we are on the right track... :D:D I keep working here I still have 34 months to go... I think I dont sleep tonight...jejejej cheers Walter.

If I was on your place Frank I would sell this Idea for a Stephen King movie ¡¡ jejeje... but its absolutely true, not having a stop on the system its like not having a spare tire on your car, you may not need it today, but some day you will need it... also having 2 Internet providers is a good Idea... but still not having hard stops can be very painfull on one of this movies...

OK ¡¡¡¡ I have loaded on my PC a database of 1 min bars from USD/JPY from june 16 2004 ¡¡¡ til today my lord ¡¡ Now we have SOLID information to work on...3 years worth of data ¡¡ I still have to make the convertions for 5 and 15 min... Thanks Don ¡¡ Did you already loaded database ? cheers Walter.
-
Ok you got it ¡¡ thats the information we needed... I will be trying this procedure I will update you how it went... By the way I am planing to do a paralel test with this simple rules : Entry: 1 pip above/below range (3 hours previous to london open) Exit : 10 pips Stop: -10 pips wich means that once you got in is + or - 10 that would give us a 1:1 RRR and the edge would be the amount of positive days vs negative days... Thanks Don for this great information ¡¡¡ cheers Walter.

Welcome to the Candlestick Corner! Stop on in!
walterw replied to brownsfan019's topic in The Candlestick Corner
It will be very interesting ¡¡¡ thanks for opening this section I expect to learn something new on this great technicall topic... cheers Walter. -
Nice information Tin... I aprecciate that... in this case would your timing happen outside(anticipation) or inside the range (confirmation) after the failure pattern... ?
-
Well that was an interesting modification Don did... i think it makes more robust and harder to break areas of the pre-london open so if you get a break there you will be more biased to expect some more action on that direction at least a sure foot 10 to 15 pip move... thats what this test its all about... so far at hindsight lots of positive days... cheers Walter.

As per to your comentary you are trading the cycle back in to the range... in your experience do this normally take price action to the other extreme of the more times than not ? cheers Walter.
