with a $10k account, theoretically you can daytrade a lot of contracts. Some brokers require only $500 initial margin. practically speaking... experienced traders will tell you -- you should trade a max of ONE contract. I would even tell you not to start with less than $20k, It is not the amount of risk capital that matters, it is not the size of your past profit that matters, What matters is... YOUR ability to make consistent small profits, day in and day out, with minimal intraday draw down. When you have achieved that, then you can think about larger profit targets, and multiple contracts. my 2c only, there are more than one way to skin a cat, other method/criteria have proven to be profitable as well.

You sound angry. Maybe you should be angry at CNNMoney or FoxNews. What does cemetery plots has to do with me? (or you?)

> The problems traders experience in trading are the same problems they have avoided in other domains of their lives. I agree. People approach their trading problems with the same method they used to "subdue" their other problems, with decidedly predictable results.

I guess this candidate would never be nominated, let alone elected. there is a conspiracy that all the Fort Knox gold were long gone. if that is true, then this candidate will be silenced at all cost. He will never have a chance LOL Ron Paul worries Fort Knox gold is gone By Jennifer Liberto @CNNMoney June 24, 2011: 11:58 AM ET Ron Paul introduced a bill that would require the Fed to manually audit every U.S.-owned gold bar. WASHINGTON (CNNMoney) -- With the price of gold at record highs, presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul wants to make sure the U.S. gold bars at Fort Knox are really there. Paul called a congressional hearing Thursday to grill federal officials about his bill to audit and inventory all of the gold reserves at Fort Knox, Ky., West Point, N.Y., and Denver, even though Treasury officials insist that the gold is audited annually and is all there. During the hearing, Paul suggested that the Federal Reserve of New York, which has 5% of the U.S. gold reserves, has the ability to secretly sell or swap gold with other countries without anyone knowing. "The Fed is pretty secret, you know," said Paul, who leans Libertarian. "Congress doesn't have much say on what's going on over there. They do a lot of hiding." full story here http://money.cnn.com/2011/06/24/news/economy/ron_paul_gold_audit/index.htm?hpt=hp_t2

any backtesting software that can backtest in ticks. if you are thinking about scanning thousands of stocks in real time... good luck. The limitation is more on the datafeed and hardware speed, not software.

what do you think is the reason?

your "analysis" is based on what you wish to see... not seeing what the market is showing you.

Don't give me that "Holier than Thou" sweet talk. LOL... Make no mistake, you are promoting your services here, same as a number of others. Albeit you are doing it in a classy and not "In-Your-Face" manner.

1. if there is money on the table, you can be sure someone will grab it. 2. if it costs more to grab the reward then the money on the table, people will ignore it.

What was your original plan? What IS your plan? get a piece of paper and write them down (ie commitment) if you haven't done so. Before you have a plan, there is no use making a progress review. If there is no progress review, there is no need for plan revision.

what are you trying to achieve?

there is no free lunch in this world. if you are naive enough to believe there is no spread/commission, you are most likely believe you can make money.

try to budget for 1-2 years.......

it helps if you drink whiskey, not beer.

ES is too technical to use news as a trading tool. you need to keep tab of the news, but not in real time.

Fed gloomier about the economy NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The Federal Reserve has grown more pessimistic about the state of the U.S. economy. At the conclusion of a two-day policy meeting, the central bank said that while the recovery is continuing at a moderate pace, growth is somewhat slower than expected. It also said the jobs market is "weaker than anticipated." Federal Reserve gloomier on jobs, economic growth - Jun. 22, 2011

you have just discovered the holy grail. and I am not kidding you, most people spent over 10 years in the market and still have not observed this phenomenon. You see, you don't need to be smart, you don't need to go to the best business school, you don't need the fastest computer, you don't need any esoteric analysis, you don't need any insider tips, all you needed is to get on the train, and ride the wave. When the market is going up, every idiot is a genius. just close your eyes and buy... it doesn't matter if the stock is ABC or XYZ, when the market is going up, every Tom Dick and Harry will go up too. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

What you are describing is a very high level idea. there are a lot of decisions and small operational steps in between the lines. You should transfer your thoughts onto a flowchart first, then fill in the blocks with detailed instructions.
