  1. I have reported this before... and I want to bring to your attention again, -- new posts to the sub-forums are not listed on the front page. HOW DO YOU EXPECT to grow this website if people are not aware of new and interesting discussions that are happening ? how do you expect people to participate and create more traffic if they don't know there is a party going on ??? Can you see all the threads with zero, or maybe a couple of meager replies? maybe you can see why there are so little responds; people do not go through all the sub-forums to look for new threads. eg. this new thread was not list on the front page http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/tradestation-custom-programming/10229-trendline-vs-plots.html
  2. PLOT is used to paint a price bar, a dot, a dash, a cross, or a line on a chart. you plot one bar at a time... when plotting a line, as in a moving average, you get a continuous curving line. when plotting a line based on a pivot value... you get a straight line. Trendline (TL_NEW) is a drawing object. you define the coordinates -- the starting point and the ending point, in terms of date, time and price, and you get a trendline. a trendline is always straight; it can be a vertical line, horizontal line, or a line that spans diagonally across the chart. a trendline can be made to extend beyond the starting and/or ending point. a trendline can be moved, deleted, attributes modified... well... trendlines can be fun, or headache... depends on which side of the fence you are on. more discussions here: http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/coding-forum/5840-trendline-easylanguage.html 59.45
  3. forget about autotrades. at least, for now, forget about getting a profitable autotrade for free. also forget about getting a profitable autotrade for a price, any price. there is no free lunch in this world. people tell you that they have a profitable system for sale... if they can get the money from the market, why would they want to get the money from you??? BECAUSE it is easier to extract money from your pocket than for the system to extract money from the market !!! you would better off learning to trade first... then think about how to automate it.
  4. Optionetics has a subscription service called Platinum, which provides users with historical (EOD) option quotes, and a sophisticated backtest system that can handle multi-leg, multi-underlying, in/out scalable backtests.

  14. You sound frustrated and desperate. MultiCharts comes with over 150 strategies, everyone of them profitable. Have you tried any? How did you try? What testing period did you use? Did you use any of them in combination?
  15. what fantastic? i don't see any hype. i heard it is a solid book. like any technical books, no matter how easy, it takes work to understand.
  16. Discipline is a dirty word. Discipline is a negative word... Discipline is about not doing something you want to do. Nobody ever looks at "Discipline" in a positive light. that's why Discipline is such a difficult thing to do. Take a look at the teenager who just got his driver's license. he wants to drive fast, but everybody is telling him not to. he needs to exert tremendous mental force to control his urge to drive fast. Take a look at the teenager who just met his first GF. he wants to have sex, but everybody is telling him not to. he needs to exert tremendous mental force to control his urge to have sex. If you focus on discipline, you will never get it. you will break down. you will always be violating the rules. you will always be sabotaging yourself. My 2 cents... throw the discipline out of the window. start living your life the way you want to. drive as fast as you want, have as much sex as you can, trade recklessly... Darwin will take care of the rest.

  20. There’s a New Way to Own a Piece of Facebook Before Its IPO If you’re looking to invest in Facebook before its IPO but not privy to the secondary markets where shares of the company have been trading, there’s a new (albeit somewhat indirect) way to buy a stake. The publicly traded investment fund GSV Capital announced on Monday that it has purchased 225,000 shares of Facebook at a price of $29.28 per share, which values the social network at $70 billion. The investment represents about 15% of GSV’s portfolio — enough to drive up shares of GSV (which trades on NASDAQ under the symbol GSVC) by more than 30% as of midday trading on Monday. GSV does not currently show any other companies in its “portfolio” on its site, but the firm also recently announced an investment in Kno, a digital textbook outfit that raised $46 million in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz last year. In a statement issued today, the company says it is “presently in the final stages with a handful of private company investments that it anticipates acquiring within the next 30 days.” story here be careful with the last statement ;-)
  21. depends on whether you are using TradeStation or MultiCharts. With TradeStation, any indicator applied to a sub-chart will plot/draw in a sub-chart. with MultiCharts, the plot will work in a sub-chart too, but drawing objects (ir TL, Text, etc.,) has to be written for a sub-chart to drawn in a sub-chart.
