Whether it should be free or not is none of my business. It is the business decision of the TL owner. And his decision is based on his business model. Our concern is vendor transparency, not whether he is a paid up advertiser.

While the problem you noted is real, the problem that lead to this thread is more disturbing: people who did not identify themselves as vendors, or have mentioned it in passing in ONE post that were buried deep somewhere.... and they give you all kinds of "help", pointing you whichever way... but ultimately (and predictably) ended at the suggestion of their ebook, or seminar, or indicator, or advisory service. I have no problem with vendors selling their products, but they should be above board.

yes... it is based on average true range.... just change avgtruerange to avgrange and viola, you have the indicator you wanted.

just use keltner channel. it is made out of average true range.

you can start by describing your imagination and vision.

if you can imagine it, visualize it, quantify it, articulate it, you can code it.

I doubt what you said about TS is true... TS has always been a retail based company. This is not to say institutions don't use it, maybe the fringe of the institution, there is good reason for it -- EasyLanguage is limited in its capabilities, it was never meant to do the type of sub-minute, sub-second, HFT type analysis that trading is moving towards.

especially when the first post new members are chiming in. they must think we were born yesterday. if I were the mod, I would automatically delete any thread that has a first post member praising a product or service. it's a no-brainer.

I have posted 54 indicators in this forum... including some of the indicators that I use everyday. All of them are source-code included; none of them are for sale -- they are free. I don't think people object to honest above board vendors; but people do get T-off when you are chatting along, exchanging ideas, and all of a sudden, out of the blue, he offers you his must have miracle indi or his slippery snake course for $x,xxx.

I feel the same betrayal. If UB was selling his indi all along, then he was lying when he said he had nothing to sell. If he has a history of lying, then how can I trust anything he says, including his indi? If UB was not selling his indi... but this is a new marketing venture, I do not see any problem with that. I wish he had come out and said so. We would all be cheering for him and wishing him well. But no, he slyly slipped in an URL for a web seminar... and it turned out to be a sales pitch. This is like winning an all expense paid trip to a resort, just to find out you have to sit through a 4 hr pressure cooker seminar for a swamp real estate project.
