  1. Thank Daedalus to start the thread, I have good support from OEC when trying hard enough :-) It is of OEC interest to please their customers when possible and I must say they are attentive to requests. There is a change in the DOM ASK histogram that is not needed and not for the better. The DOM as 3-4 is very good and I hope no fancy mods will alter is reputation… Have a look to the screenshot. I sent an Email to OEC few weeks ago to no response.
  2. I will recommend all posts by Walterw, about VMA. You’ll find charts, videos and exhaustive study, brilliant contribution by the Chimp. cheers

    OEC/windows7

Is OEC compatible with Windows 7? If you run OEC on a laptop under Windows 7, please let us know your sentiments. Thanks.
  4. Wish you all a safe and happy Holiday Season!
  5. Talking about volume there is something to look at if you rely on the histogram, the total reported by the histograms, DOM and Chart should be identical to the total in quotes. I believe OEC is working on fixing it. If you see a big difference, don’t trust the histogram. The histogram is supposed to start computing at the opening (ES 15:30), and reset at the next opening, I have seen some instances where the histogram didn’t reset resulting in total mess….
  6. Same behaviour here, can’t keep the selection off, it always reverts. I noticed that the dragable is only working horizontally, on my system anyway. However the dragable function can be achieved by using the scroll wheel on the mouse (cursor on the chart) to get an horizontal move and on the price column to get a vertical move , by using shift key and the mouse wheel the chart can be expanded or contracted as if using – or + on the toolbar ( cursor on the price column with shift will expanded and contracted the chart vertically.
  7. Good info I didn’t know; Are there any good DMA FX brokers you would recommend?

    DOM at Limit

I’ve done couple more tests, the behaviour is as you described going long or short I got filled instantly at market. When the market is more active it could end up in different results, I’m not sure as I got filled 2 pips away previously two days ago. Thanks brownsfan your help was appreciated.

    DOM at Limit

You are lucky, when I do that I get filled at 104.25.

    DOM at Limit

You are right the fill is not pending, it occurs at the price entered, I have to test a bit more , not a big deal as it’s not a command I use, I was just curious to find out if others traders were using it and if it could be of any unknown, effective use :-)

    DOM at Limit

I did experiment using the demo; the fill was at the entered price, whatever it was 1, 2 or 4 pips above. I will test a bit more, just curious! Also in that case will the buy above price be filled from the respective ASK pending position or from the ASK first on line (last ASK)?

    DOM at Limit

If your OEC DOM is set as describe in post 1 (which is the default), moving your mouse pointer on the bid ladder above the current price will give you 2 options: Right click: limit Left click: stop The buy stop order is the right command use to catch the train up at a defined level. My question is why someone would use a limit order above the current price? What's your opinion?

    DOM at Limit

That is my sentiment too, but if it is possible and the DOM has been design to allow it, it must be for a good reason. Let say I place a buy limit, one pip above current price, my bid will be taken straight away( at that price 1 pip above market), in that case will the transaction be processed quicker than at market? I try to figure out what will be the advantage, may be for large traders to jump the queue, no ideas??

    DOM at Limit

I read somewhere that CME allows to place a buy limit order above the current price and a Sell limit order below current price. (Can’t be done on CBOT). The OEC DOM set as follow: Dom Options/Additional/Allow Limit Above Mkt is checked by default so it is able. My question is what will be the advantage of buying at limit above the price. Can the big players manipulate the market doing so? For a small trader, is the transaction quicker and more reliable?
  15. Any follow up? Has anyone been recently in contract with OEC support?

    OEC Outage

Thanks browns for checking, I had the simulation password reset by OEC to be able to reconnect, but I still can’t log in the site. Last time I contacted OEC they were looking at it.

    OEC Outage

Nov, 19. Since 16:15 . I can’t log in OEC site and the simulation is not connecting. Does anyone having the same problem?
  18. Hi garak, you right the Total Volume in quote and in DOM should be the same, I always notice a slightly difference, this time it is a lot more sinister, as I write the DOM is reporting 158780 instead of 11147, (the Excel DDE feed is affected as well) the graphic in chart histogram is misleading, that is why I felt the need to warn the fellow trader as the histogram is a good indication to monitor the price action, if you are not aware of the fault it could result in bad decisions. The ZN did reset OK but the ES is still crook, the problem should be fixed soon, in the meantime check if the figures match.
  19. I’m just reporting that the histograms in the charts and DOM did not reset at the opening for the major futures symbols, so if you relay on the histogram for your statistics or as a volume price study it is a big concern as you could think being in a middle of the value area whilst actually being in the low or high value area. I did report the fault to OEC; hopefully it will be fixed quickly. 23:51 ESZ9 total volume is 47678, the DOM reports 517794 and the span is huge as reporting volume prior 15:30.
  20. Hi Frank, Thanks for starting this thread, I guess many traders will be interested to know what is happening during overnight sessions, the volume is not there but the range is surprisingly high in comparison. Rather than limiting to 6.5 hours I’m wondering if statistics could be made using before vs. after US market open. Sometimes it seems the market has been set for the day at the beginning of the futures and it is easier to spot big pulses in volume when the cash is closed. If it is not too inconvenient could you post the statistic for ES from 15:30 to 8:30 vs. 8:30 to 15:15, and ZN from 17:30 to 8:30 vs. 8:30 to 16:00 (CST). On the attached picture we can see some good range in ZN when the cash is closed and not so good range for the ES during the same periods.

  23. Please, could you post a picture, thanks.
  24. I noticed that the total volume reported in Excel ‘Quotes’ table is different than the Total volume shown under the histogram in the OEC DOM, also when I add the lastVol in Excel ‘Quotes’ I can see that the result is different than the increment in TotalVol, It looks like I don’t get the full numbers of transactions in LastVol. The lastVol must be a snpashot only?
  25. Does anybody know why OEC doesn’t support ticks (I got a warning when I compile the B&A pressure indicator or any other indicator for that matter). Is there another word to replace 'Ticks' in coding EL for OEC platform? The indicator seems to work though. Thanks.
