  1. Can be done using the CCI provided in OEC platform.

Two instances can be superimposed in order to have the column and line contour effect; the ‘coloring study’ can set the colors above/below 0/100 for columns or lines.

  2. The problem is exacerbated for me by my tendancy to experiment with applications thus noising up my directories and my registry.

Same here, I like to experiment with new softwares. Very happy to have found ‘ Revo Uninstaller’ I’ve been using it for years now (instead of windows uninstall), it removes all leftover in the registry and hard drive.

    The free version is OK.

  3. I've attached my Processes list of svchost.exe, windows 7, 4 Gb ram. Home network 3 computers.

Someone found a second 'svchost.exe' copy in user ‘dir’, which was causing the problem, you can use ‘Process Explorer’ to see what is running and from which dir.

    Process Explorer

Another cause could be your host file, as describe below:

    Good luck.

I've been trying to figure out this problem for quite some time and it's been very frustrating. I've known it was the svchost.exe(Network Services) process but didn't know what to do about it. I was looking for some tech support online; but I came across a site that suggested it might be due to a large HOSTS file. This was exactly my problem!!!! I had been using the hp-HOSTS free HOSTS file download (see link below) which is a humongous file!!! It's up to almost 4MB now!! (BTW....Some of the things in there are totally unnecessary too! So I have to edit it. It's definitely thorough but can also be paranoid.) After finding the suggestion to consider my HOSTS file, I was intending to download their smaller file; so I went back to the hp-HOSTS site to get it. I first tried their "fix" though of disabling the DNS Client and still using the larger file. So far it's worked for me. So I'll probably stick with it. If not, I'll try the smaller file and if that doesn't work then I'll go back to using MVPs HOSTS file (see link below), which is also a free download. It's not quite as large and never gave me problems before. I just lost the MVP link when my previous computer died and went with the hp-HOSTS when it was the first decent one I found for this computer. Anyway.... so far so good; so if you're having the same problem, I would suggest looking at your HOSTS file. It's an easy thing to do and might take care of the problem in a snap. To definitely tell for sure, you can always set your HOSTS file back to the Microsoft default (which is tiny) and if your system works fine, then it's your HOSTS file.

Here's how to run the Microsoft default test:

1.) go to URL -->How do I reset the hosts file back to the default?

2.) find the system you use and copy the code for it or just click the "You fix it for me" button (if you let them fix it you're done at this point; just try it out to see if your system is working better now). If you didn't click the "You fix it for me" button then

3.) follow the directions on the page to install that HOSTS file to your computer

Try your system by disconnecting and reconnecting to the internet. If it fixed the problem, I suggest getting a better HOSTS file.

***DON'T*** stick with the Microsoft default!!!!!!

The Microsoft file was just for a quick test!!! It leaves your system vulnerable to attack though. So get rid of it! Go to one of the sites below (MVPs or hp-HOSTS) or choose one of your own, but the MS default is no good for safe browsing! Download a HOSTS file that you want and follow the instructions that you find on the download's page or on one of the pages below to install it. If you have problems again, try disabling the DNS client. (Instructions for that are on the hp-HOSTS download page. I would suggest visiting the site's main page first for any extra info.)

  4. Hi, my PC has a habit of being very slow recently, especially browsing. It almost grinds to a halt and I have to physically restart it using the button rather than through windows.

Looking in the Task Manager it seems the problem could be with the SVCHOST process which seems to take up vastly more (10x) mem usage than any other process.

Can I do anything to speed it up, or is it time to get a new PC? I've tried CC Cleaner, registry cleaner and deleting temp files etc. No good.

    Any help welcome....

    Thanks

Windows 7 is all good so far. Don't know which OP you use.

Just googled on svchost and found few solutions...........

  5. My understanding is: if you are an old customer using a live account you’ll have to pay $50/month instead of $25 to use the demo, starting on the first September.

Not really fair, is it? And what is the catch?

    Do you have different info?

    Cheers

    Clarification:

All direct OEC customers with at least $5000 in the live account will be offered a free demo account. If you do not have a current live account, the balance is less than $5000, or have an account with one of OEC's brokers, the demo is priced at $49.95 per month, starting September 1st.

Nice move, thanks to OEC. :-)

  6. From here:

Starting on September 1, 2010 OEC will be offering all Direct Live Accounts free access to our Simulation Environment. Details on how to access will follow.

I know that is something many on here and other boards have asked for, so good to see that OEC has listened!

  7. Tough crowd, tough crowd. I might end up going all "Steven Slater" on all of you :)

We're on it but we upgraded all the software this weekend since it was a soon to be unsupported version and while most everything worked seamless when it came back on there's been a few glitches - this image resizing being one and the most critical. We've got the tech people on it and told them it's critical -- since we've been spending enough on the website these days to put their children through college and grad school I'm optimistic that it will be resolved quickly.

    Now, where are those beers......

Ha-ha-ha...Let us know when, so you can book the media.

You could have post a message to warn the members of the glitches and reduce the size of the pictures to be posted until bug solved.

    Cheers.

  8. ^^ Appreciate the OEC conversion... Gonna take a look at it today. Cheers!

By setting the Icycle colour to ‘transparent’ I only see the unbound cycle.

In this format (unbound) this indicator is excellent to spot divergences, I did superimpose few indicators (ROC, Momentum and 3/10 MACD) and found TCC impressing.

  9. yea ¡¡ interesting the original one actually its capped between +-1 ... so seems the TOS version may be diferent then... thanks Trendup for clarifying this, cheers Walter.

After reading the documentation :) I realised the plot command for the uncapped cycle was missing. Also I changed Price(close) to (High+Low)/2), alpha to 0.07 and lines to 0.50 to comply with the original code. All parameters can be adjusted from the properties window.

According to the doc and code design, it is interesting to note that the bottom line is the buy signal and the top the sell trigger as in conventional oscillators.

    Have a good weekend.

The file TCC.EL (zip) is the compiled version for OEC platform.

  10. Thanks for the suggestions -- I'm going to work with the tech person here and see if we can get both of those added (el and docx)

    Thanks.

Going to the forum setup and add those extensions should take 2minutes, it takes time to zip files each time we want to upload an attachment, very annoying.

    can someone fix this, thanks.

  11. Usefull method..indicator to determine correct momentum condition to trade the

chimp method or another, when we realy need in strong inertia of the market, I begin better

descerning when trade or not by the chimp. Thank you Walter. :) Let me share indicator,

which I find on net, make little bit changes in code and now it looks same as on

    thinkoswim.

    p.s for NT.

I'm interested in having the easy language version of the indicators supplied in this thread.

Kit could u post a screenshot.

    Thanks

  12. So the big question would be, what inputs could be interesting to see in a ES 3 minute charts for momentum filtering... well this weekend I played arround with some ES charts and seem like +1 -1 threshold inputs with very same 0.02 alpha input looks quite decent...

In some very sporadic events, it may signal momentum but not the correct direction of trend as I show on attachments here...

I attach the TOS code, with the default parameters for EUR/USD... ( to be applied on a 3 minute chart ) cheers Walter.

Ha ha ha …Strange must be some telepathy involve, in May I had similar thinking about momentum, it was a kind of day where you threw a lot of indicators on the chart to realise you’re going nowhere, looking at a 2 tick range bar chart intending to scalp the ES, trying to avoid the small pullbacks which often are part of little consolidations, by drawing rectangles to encapsulate those areas where no clear advance or decline moves were occurring and noticed that I could delimitate those areas on an AO the oscillator by using 2 tuned lines close to the 0 line as described in this thread.

    Entries could be:

Go long at the cross up to the upper line and short at the cross down to the lower line, outcome:

1- Benefit from a nice move.

2- Not enough momentum to be profitable.

3- After a cross the move reverse against you and it is a stop out.

This method triggers a lot of losing signals; I believe some filters need to be implemented.

    Cheers,

Always please to read your posts.

  13. DAH! I just tried to do it and its fixed!!! Must've been done in one of the recent updates because I swear 3.5.0.9 it was still broken.

Glad to read this, I don’t use 3.4 anymore though, last time I’ve tried without success to import the settings I did bounce back half dozen faulty reports and they were working on it.
