Excellent stuff Walter I'm looking forward to this thread as I've never really got into forex as I have with futures. I'll follow along with you on the USDJPY pair and see if I can interact somewhere down the line. I like the idea of 5 pips a day, but not a 5 pip target, because it means you can keep some runners going and not just cut them off at 5 pips. It also takes the pressure off as well, not having a big mountain to climb every day. However it could also go back to the arguement of just when to stop on any given day. Cheers Blu-Ray

Smaller profits yields better results?

Excellent stuff Brownsfan, keep that amount up and it'll definately be worth getting a seat on the CME. Cheers Blu-Ray -
The "Flip" Trade (support and resistance changing roles)
Blu-Ray replied to walterw's topic in Technical Analysis
Not really using a ratio as such, just following momentum, so will exit if it re-crosses cci zero line or sometimes exit at cci 50+/-. This is something I'm trying to fine tune at present. Blu-Ray -
The "Flip" Trade (support and resistance changing roles)
Blu-Ray replied to walterw's topic in Technical Analysis
Walter Absolutely great thread, followed you all the way through it, I'm now just starting to trade it and really like the risk/reward side of it as the signals are momentum based and it gets you out quick without too much pain if incorrect. I keep checking your thread every night to see if I spot the same opportunities as yourself, however, I keep missing some of the opportunites you spot because I currently only seem to see the picture perfect ones. For instance I missed those today that you have posted, because when the resistance line gets penetrated I dismiss them as being invalid, however, as you show they were profitable trades. I think as time goes on, my eye will get trained better into seeing the setups in real time. One thing I am noticing live when waiting for flips to occur is just straight forward bounces off the support line with the timing of cci to go with it, for example, your chart posted today, the bounce off support at 8:40 coupled with the cci crossover gives out a great trade. I'm still working on this one so it's still early doors yet. Once again Walter many thanks for your hard work and contribution to this forum and I really enjoy reading your posts. Blu-Ray -

The "Flip" Trade (support and resistance changing roles)
Blu-Ray replied to walterw's topic in Technical Analysis
Walter, nice one..... I know what you mean about being addicted, I've wrote more indicators in the last week, than I have done for the past year. Keep up the good work and I'll try and chip in if I can. Blu-Ray -
The "Flip" Trade (support and resistance changing roles)
Blu-Ray replied to walterw's topic in Technical Analysis
Walterw Great thread, I'm watching closely and also playing around with the cci50 indicator you kindly gave me. Just a quick question, have you ditched tradestation now? Cheers Blu-Ray -
Walter It stands for Single Stock Futures Blu-Ray

dalby Apologies in advance if I've missed something, but let me get this straight... You say your line chart is not a line on close chart, but after every set interval, eg 1 minute, it has to give an end value of that minute, so what is that price based on? Is it based on a line on close chart but the actual minute at present fluctuates as price of the TICK fluctuates.. if so then that's the same as TS. Hope this makes sense Blu-Ray
-
Thanks Walter, much appreciated Blu-Ray

dalby Just curious, so what is your line price based on? Could you post a chart? Cheers Blu-Ray

Walterw Nice work, is there any chance of sharing your version of the indicator Cheers Blu-Ray

James I can help you out with the first one, where it plots a high and low for the first 90 minutes. You'll have to adjust the start and end time as I'm based in England so start is 14:30 here. Also, if your using $TICK like your picture on the other thread, just format indicator and "base study on" data2. Hope this helps Blu-Ray Tick.bmp OPENING RANGE.ELD

Nice one cooter, Thanks very much Blu-Ray

torero You can now get Eurex data through Tradestation, however you can't trade via them yet, so it is possible to observe it. I'm also waiting for the FTSE data to be released on TS, as I'm based in England , daytrading DAX and FTSE in the morning really appeals. As Brownsfan says he's up trading at 7am, it's hard work for me having to have a nice lie in til 10-11 before the US start of 2.30pm.

ckait I had a bit of missed data as well, but as cooter mentioned, TS were having data problems early on today. Blu-Ray

You can get a digital clock with seconds to replace the one in your toolbar, I used to have this before I had to reinstall my computer. It was something like this one in the link: Atomic Alarm Clock 4.365 - Free Download Atomic Alarm Clock by Drive Software Company Hope this helps Blu-Ray

Apologies Cooter I got the same message as you and thought it only worked on a daily chart, however, after opening a new chart it does work on intraday as well. Blu-Ray

It needs to be on a daily chart. Walterw Thanks for the indicator, I slightly modified the code just for easier reading value3= (value2 / value1)*100; Cheers Blu-Ray

It looks like a typical trading day for me when I was starting out. As Pivot says 29 trades is too many - for me anyway, but I've been there and done exactly what you're doing. From what I can see and what I felt at the time was " I need to be in the market" then when a trade doesn't go to plan " Phew, I got out of that one, right then back in again" and generally not following a plan just going with what I felt was right. It's best to sit on your hands and wait for the right set-up to come along, easier said than done but you'll get there. Hope this helps Blu-Ray

Tape Reading and Market Tactics by Humphrey Bancroft Neill
Blu-Ray replied to Soultrader's topic in Books
Two good reviews there, I just ordered the book yesterday, can't wait for it to arrive now Cheers Blu-Ray -
Your dead right there Walterw, I was just responding to a request from James when I noticed that all the indicators produced the same results ie volume and not ticks. Then I've just come across your last post and as you say both indicators are displaying exactly the same info, it would therfore be down to whatever suits the individual. I've just downloaded your TickDelta indicator so I'll give it a go in real time tomorrow, because I was wondering if the colours kept swapping intrabar. Cheers Blu-Ray
-
James Having looked a bit further into your request is seems that the TickDelta indicator by Walterw, is exactly what your after. Although you may think that the TickDelta is just based on ticks, its based on the actual volume (having checked the easy language). I cross referenced the TickDelta, Up/Down Volume and the normal volume indicator and they all give out the same figures. Hope this helps Blu-Ray
