  1. Article here: http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/08/news/economy/mortgage_summit/index.htm?postversion=2008120818
  2. A simple study for CQG plotting the 60 minute (initial balance) high/low. This works only on a day session chart. Once imported and applied to a chart, right click on the two lines > modify > and change the line to dash. Screenshot is attached. Enjoy! IB Range.pac
  3. Fixed it. The bump and merging of posts should no longer happen. Thanks
  4. thanks... just spent 5 hours of my time building this. Didn't want the quotes to stick out as much and nowhere else really to put it. I think its a nice small addition to have.
  5. Dear Traders, I have implemented a random quote generator which will apply this to the bottom of the page. I did steal this idea from another site but felt it would be refreshing it we can see a motivational or inspirational quote every time we view a page. I have started collecting quotes on my own but would appreciate if members can contribute your favorite or preferred quotes you would like to see at the bottom of the page. Thank you.
  6. Hey EZ, been a while since I saw you last around here and good to have you back. I agree entirely about having a good trading buddy to talk to. I do keep in touch with more veteran traders that I can learn from at the same time have enough ideas to contribute. We recently build a trade system on Japanese equities... and I would of never thought I would be trading stocks! Well at the end of the day, all that matters is "Did you make money?" Interacting with veteran traders have helped me gain further wisdom and become more open to the variety of trading methodologies out there. The trade system we built has nothing to do with chart patterns, fundamentals, or technical analysis. Simply exploiting regulations created by the local exchange. So just like the pit traders who made money by exploiting the newer pit traders... in this game no one will hand you a medal for placing a trade based on a pretty looking technical setup. I dont expect the edge to be there always. But for now, might as well exploit this edge. Though I do think the ability to read price action and tape as well as understanding fundamentals is key to longevity in this game, I think it really boils down to what is it you want out of the markets. There are so many ways to profit from the market.. and like ez said only 1-3 setups is all you need. The problem for new traders is that they lack the experience to understand when to stay aside. I think this emotion of patience and discpline only kicks in after a trader make his/her mistake and experiences the pain. All you need is just a small piece of the pie.... I found this to be the hardest when starting out especially coming from a tourney poker background where I had to eat up the entire pie to win.
  7. Just got this in the mail from a brokerage house in Korea. CFTC Staff Allows Korea Exchange’s Futures Contract Based on the KOSPI 200 Stock Index to be Offered and Sold in the United States Washington, D.C. - The Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC's) Office of General Counsel today announced that it issued a no-action letter on November 26, 2008, permitting the offer and sale in the United States of the Korea Exchange’s (KRX’s) futures contract based on the KOSPI 200 Stock Index (KOSPI 200). The KOSPI 200 is a broad-based, free-float market-capitalization- weighted index composed of 200 major stocks currently listed on KRX and is a widely recognized benchmark of stock market activity in South Korea. Based on data supplied by KRX, the free-float adjusted market capitalization of the KOSPI 200 was approximately U.S.$495.4 billion as of March 4, 2008. PLEASE NOTE: This is a product approval only. U.S. customers may trade approved foreign exchange-traded products through a registered futures commission merchant (FCM) which is either a member of the foreign exchange on which that product is listed or which has established an omnibus account with a clearing member on that exchange, or directly through a member of the foreign exchange that has been granted exemptive relief pursuant to Commission Regulation 30.10. For more information on foreign markets, products, and intermediaries, please see the Commission's website (see Related Documents link). Last Updated: November 28, 2008
  8. You might want to take a look at the mini Nikkei and mini TOPIX. The mini Nikkei is a very liquid contract and the tick size is identical to the YM. If you want somthing slightly bigger like the ES, might want to look at the KOSPI traded on the KRX.
  9. Hi all, The function has been completely removed. The aim was not for traffic at all. It was simply to bring in more activity. I wanted to offer new traders a chance to participate even if it meant asking alot of redundant questions. But the most important for TL is quality. I appreciate the feedbacks.
  10. The investment with the highest return is... investment in self. Trading style/methodology can take some time to develop. Not only that, it will take some time to find the markets suited for your style as well. My recommendation is to learn various styles and techniques and find something that suits you based on personality, activeness, risk tolerance, capital, etc.... You cant really expect someone else to find your style and methodology. Traders spend a ton of time developing strategies and methodologies. This is what is required for you if you want to dedicate yourself to become a professional trader.
  11. I have disabled this function for now. You guys have a valid point, I will think of some other functionality. Thanks for the feedbacks.
  12. Hi Blowfish, Sorry I just noticed this thread. I tend to forget to visit the support forum every now and then. The 3 post policy is only for the indicator section. Members have access to the boards but can not download the indicators until they have 3 posts. It makes more sense for members to at least be active within TL instead of lurking around and downloading indicators for free. I have a message that gets posted for lurkers to introduce themselves. As a result we are seeing more members using this section. Up until now, TL has been a place for the experienced traders. After viewing it from a third person perspective I realized TL could be a bit intimidating for the new trader to participate. Hence, I wanted newer traders to be more active within the community. Let me know what you think! Thanks.
  13. Hi Brian, Welcome to TL and good to have you on board. Not many traders get to experience the life of a pit trader. I am sure most of the members would be interested in hearing more about your experiences at the pit. What is the culture like amongst traders? Do some traders have an upper hand over others? What is the turnover ratio for floor traders? The advantages vs disadvantages of being on the floor, etc.... Just a few questions I have off the top of my head. Would appreciate if you can share with us some thoughts. Thanks.

  15. I dont have the links with me but do a quick search with keyword "TICK". You should see a bunch of threads that talk about this.
  16. Pretty amazing artist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2cAArobH8g
  17. Just checking in, Ian are you still having login problems?
  18. Hi Ryan, I highly recommend working with someone within your area that you can actually meet, have a drink, and discuss your trading. Though the internet provides a great environment for information to flow freely, matters like trading ought to be discussed, tweaked, reviewed, etc... in person; in a business like manner. I interact with a few traders myself on a weekly basis just to brush off ideas, design strategies, etc... I may be worth while for me to build something that allows members to find traders in their area.
  19. Its an anti-spam system to automatically flag links and certain keywords by first time posters. We do this to protect ourselves from the spam messages that get posted daily. Apparently your post was caught in our system but have approved it accordingly. Thanks
  20. I have yet to try this but seems like there are a few solutions: 1. http://lifehacker.com/344545/play-flash-media-on-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch-with-itransmogrify'>http://lifehacker.com/344545/play-flash-media-on-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch-with-itransmogrify 2. http://lifehacker.com/344545/play-flash-media-on-your-iphone-or-ipod-touch-with-itransmogrify 3. http://imobilecinema.com/ 4. 21. Yea, I think that ought to do the job. Please let me know how it turns out. The iPhone is the only phone in Japan that uses a universal sim card which allows me to do the same thing for future reference. All the other phones carry their own Japanese version sim card which makes it impossible to implement a universal sim card. Thanks.
  22. Hi Eiger, Not sure what your service package is like, but in Japan firms charge by the amount of data received. I am under an all you can use package but if I travel overseas and access the net via iPhone the prices are insane. So make sure to check.... because I could never use my iPhone when traveling elsewhere. I use it only in Japan and skype to call overseas from Japan only.
