  1. Just checked IB and I see they aren't listed on the products page of the site. So I guess the volumes are not there at all. Shame But I'll be keeping a watch on these products.
  2. Hi soultrader, I was just cruising through contract specs on the TSE website. Seems they introduced 3 new futures on June 16th 2008. The mini-topix as you pointed out, but also topix core 30 and a reit index. I can't find esignal symbology for any of these. Do you know how the volumes have been on these? Btw, the mini-topix has a tick size of 250¥ per tick, but a tick is 0.25 rather than 0.50 points like the full size topix. Thanks an advance. All my best, MK
  3. Absolutely GJ! However, that said....I think there is some art to it, no? The way I do it, sometimes end up looking like a child fingerpainting With kind regards, MK
  4. Hi Atto, I know of one neoticker user who wrote their own datasource (you can do that with the neoticker) so that his datafeed will slot write into SQL server as well as his charts. Of course, he isn't releasing it....but I mention it just as a point of one tool where things like this are quite possible. His name is Michale Kreslik (spelling?). All my best, MK
  5. Hello, Thanks for posting this webinar link, I'll be watching it tonight after the market. With regard to multiple strategies, you might be looking at the wrong software. Neoticker can do this just fine and has been able to for a long time (forever??). Thanks again. All my best, MK
  6. Neoticker is the best here. Tick by tick replay at a variety of speeds on as many concurrent instruments as you want. All my best, MK
  7. I thought the mini HSI wasn't available for USA folks....maybe that has changed. All my best, MK
  8. Hi Waveslider, May I ask how the system performs in other markets or is this strictly for US indexes? Have you tried it on the stoxx50, FTSE, Nikkei 225, or ever bonds and some comods? The system looks pretty good to me. My day is filled with study not really trading - that is what the system are for. If I get bored, then I need to study something that interests me All my best, MK
  9. 99.9% of the traders out there want confirmation. With that in mind, it makes more sense for me to be on the aggressive side. All my best, MK
  10. Hi Traderpsyches, IMHO, not responding to potential customer inquires is not a very good attempt at a high level of customer service. In all fairness though, Mirus isn't the first broker that seems to do this....perhaps it is because I am international trader and therefore get flagged as 'too much work'. No idea why it is.
  11. I use Neoticker and do what Darth2.0 describes. Export to csv and massage if need be via a script (I like Ruby, but Perl or Python would also be well suited - personal preference here). I know of one fellow who stores all his neoticker data into a SQL database. He uses neoticker and wrote his own neoticker datasource. You can do that with neoticker via the neoticker API. I hope you enjoy mathematica! All my best, MK
  12. Excellent Stanlyd, you are welcome. You have a handy resource to explore the language. I have done nothing with R but certainly plan to in the near future. I see a few others using it these days. My best regards, MK
  13. There is also a programming language called R which is free and is quite popular. Check it out here: http://www.r-project.org/ With kind regards, MK
  14. I too have contacted Mirus in the past trying to get information about markets offered and they never replied to my emails queries. My experience has been similar to momentom's above. With kind regards, MK
  15. I've tried MF Global before for Asian markets...they didn't feel like replying to my email queries With kind regards, MK
  16. I think to believe it must be complex is a serious flaw in your working hypothesis. They can be complex but they needn't be. What they need is a strongly grounded fundamental principle to be built upon *hint (moving avg crossover is not a strongly grounded fundamental principle). Look at markbrown.com who has published many simple strategies back in 1997 on the omega list. Note how they explore a principal. The scope is limitless...that is what takes the time and effort. If you do go down this route....it will probably take you years of exploration and is definitely a journey rather than a destination. Just like discretionary trading is. With kind regards, MK
  17. No need to be overly complex - just be original and have it built around a strong fundamental hypothesis. My best regards, MK
  18. IB has mentioned public on 'that other forum' that they will be reviewing the commission structure 'shortly' to bring the ¥ products in line for the unbundled commission structure. The public statement was over 2 years ago FWIW. With kind regards, MK
  19. I'm not sure what the regulation is specifically...they just don't allow it. But don't worry, there is no such restriction to trade the Enron or the Worldcom Its all for the protection of the American people I think. With kind regards, MK
  20. I also hear that the options on the K200 are the highest volume of any market in the world....Thanks for the summary soultrader, I wasn't aware of the difference of market participants versus the Nik. I believe most USA folks can't trade this market due to CFTC regulation, unless that has changed recently. With kind regards, MK
  21. Hi walter, I believe in the Forex world - this is a false assumption. A tick is strictly a bid change. No actual volume has to trade (although it might) for the data feed to send you a new tick. Thanks for sharing this thread btw. My best regards, MK *edit: I posted this before reading GJs excellent post. He definitely knows what he is talking about in FX. I think I read at T2W several years ago that he worked/managed interbank FX dealers or something.
  22. Same here soultrader. Because of that I take a dual position. Please allow me to explain in an example with fictitious numbers. Lets say I am long 5C and then I decide that this resistance could be a place that will contain price. I will exit some of the long (we'll say 3C) and now go short 5C. I know what you are going to say...I'm net short 3C and that is true. However, using buttontrader it treats them as separate trades and that means I can manage them separately. It happens quite often that this short entry might only be good for 12 ticks and afterwards the original trade keeps working for new highs or a test of the old high. I'll admit that my decisions are discretionary, but you get the idea.... With kind regards, MK
  23. Hi wasp, With regard to currencies - that is completely and totally all in your mind. Currencies are a relationship. No matter which way it is moving, one of the currencies is appreciating while the other is depreciating. Does it make sense to you if I said a spread (relationship) of gold and silver always "will drop a hell of a lot easier, smoother and longer in a downward movement". Thinking about the basis for your assumptions can go a long way towards your personal growth. My best regards, MK
  24. Thanks for the info. My best regards, MK
  25. Hi blowfish, Just an idea - but the DAX futures are open 1 hour before the cash. That is why the volume radically increases - it is getting closer to the open which then opens with a flurry of volume. With kind regards, MK
