Having the correct correct data feed is essential. It's normal to see opening price different from closing prices etc. due to gaps. But double-check for reliability of the data by comparing sources, and of course, checking current users of the platforms.

I don't have the book in front of me but I think it was S&P 500? I'll double-check to be sure.

I agree with kiwi in this case for people who don't trade forex because other markets don't provide small accounts with small risks. Paper trading can save unnecessary headaches and frustrations.

Yes, micro is the best to get started without being emotionally committed. This helps get the routine going and as the trader becomes blaze to the wins and losses, that's when profitability kicks in as he sizes up little by little. The real trick is to take emotions out of the equation (from Casino Royale), so this is the best way to do it.

Please try to keep this debate in a civilized manner by not using personal attacks or obscenity or I may have to delete the posts. Thanks for cooperating. -
Data1 is quotes/charts of one instrument and data2 is quotes/charts of another instrument.

You have to realize that the some trading platforms use feeds from dealing desk quotes. I have MBTrading and Tradestation quotes and charts side by side and just watching EURUSD, the quotes are 2-3 pips off on bids (MBT is non-dealing desk and TS uses a dealing desk broker). So be careful and compare by having multiple platforms up and see whose quotes are real or whose are not.

wow. the horror of it all!

I think it's difficult to teach someone all you learned and know. He may have simplified it into indicators as a start. I tested the Squeeze myself and not that great. Virtually all his indicators are in the TS forum (if they make them, TS has 'em, it's why I consider TS one of the best platforms around, not the company itself but the user group is very strong). If it were a winner, everyone in TS forum would rich by now (we're talking in thousands here). It's how I started with my mentor, using simple indicator while explaining to me the price action. It's like a baby-walking toy to aid walking upright. Little by little, I moved away from indicator and see the value in price itself. It might what he's doing to simplify market structure. I don't negate he's a great trader, just passing the torch is much more difficult in this game than any other (2 yrs with my mentor and I'm still learning). So a weekend or week with might not be sufficient.

Wow, I thought KISS was a acronym, not an indicator/system. Learn something everyday!

Give these a try. Found it a few days ago in TS Forum. A bit complicated so I'm attaching the notes to go with the indicator. I haven't done the homework nor have the book so please don't ask. Would be great if there's an expert here to share how they work. Thanks. 20040206115611COOPERATION-MURREY.ELD 20040210090025Murrey_Math_ Study_Notes.zip

Notouch, did you mean to post images/charts on your posts? Because I'm having a hard time following your explanations. I like to hear you expand on the 61.8 fib movement in Frankfurt. Thanks.

I currently trade with MBTrading, great customer support. It's the reason I don't trade through tradestation. I get signals from TS but I place all orders through MBT. Try the demo. EFX and MBT have the same platform btw.

No slashes, put in daily chart first, just 6 letters. Stay away from the currency futures except for @EC. There's not enough volume when you need to get out at a reasonable price. Why trade a pseudo instrument when you can go straight to the source with volume at all times, the forex?

James, check out EURJPY, USDJPY, and GBPJPY. I trade the last one from time to time, but the main for me is GBPUSD. Tokyo hours offer decent volatility but better during Londond session, might fit your evening hours.

1. I think the founder actively participates, this makes it stand out from other forums, giving it an authority figure watching and filtering the materials. 2nd, the founder is one of us, another trader, sharing our trials and tribulations like the rest of us. I think if you go to elite trader, who and where is the founder? What do he do now? does he post at all anymore? No one knows who he is. We all can still interact with him with immediacy. Might be the key to keeping quality. 2. I think this answer was from first one as well. 3. I tend to join a few forums just to monitor and feel out the members and the threads that offer rich and useful materials. I found quite a large pool of high quality members here, some know more some know less, but politeness and friendliness was very high, so I stuck around. I may have something to offer but I look to others for things I don't know about. -
Hi FLX, do you have an example? In charts would be very helpful. I followed strictly the rules of that TTM people gave. Adding other things is a whole new subject. Incorporating trendlines along with Squeeze will be challenging to code.

It doesn't fly. At least not in putting in a system as instructed specifically by them. Too many false signals despite restricting it to trade only morning, only afternoons, or both. I even optimized the parameters to see if it has some hope of a consistent profitability. Nada. Not sure if I am going put more energy into it.
-
My initial impression is that from the interpretation and use, there seems to be alot of false signals or that signals fire off but prices stall or just goes the other direction. Prove me wrong.

Has anyone put this backtesting in TS? If not I'm willing to do and share the results with you all. I can convert it into a strategy and see if it's profitable or not. I'll be back on March 7th so I can get started then. I need to get more examples on this indicator so I can have a clear understanding how this works. Any details (links, etc) would greatly help. So I'll start with questions: 1) what is considered a dominant momentum? big green histogram? how big and how long is it? Does it have to more of these than red histogram? 2) What about divergence? For example, while prices are making new high, but a green histogram is smaller than the last green histogram peak. Any consideration in that? 3) The signals to trade only when the dots turn blue? Where do we exit? When it turns red? 4) What stops are used? Trailing stops, hard normal stops? 5) Target profits? 6) What timeframes are recommended? Tick or minute charts? 7) What instruments are recommended?

Looks like we're heading down more? GBPJPY moved down rapidly later yesterday. Amazing!

Thanks. Glad we see eye to eye at times, age or not LOL. -
yep, just found out Big Ben was speaking. Silly me.

Yeah, getting the same reaction from GBPJPY. Nasty!

Just went long. See if this area can hold. If not, I'll be watching for a short if I get stopped out.
