Do you have any understanding of coding ? Paul

I think that the ATG group still use Sterling and there is a video here that is of one of their guys using it for real-time day-trading. I hope this helps Paul [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZrZ-bspzMw]YouTube - 11-3-10 Trading Day.mp4[/ame]

Spammers Getting Through is Getting Old Quickly
Trader333 replied to brownsfan019's topic in Announcements and Support
All you would need to do is to state that the spam is multiposted on the report feature. Trade2Win is having the same issue with the same spammers. They are using Aweber to sign people up and I have made an official complaint to Aweber about this. I am due to have a discussion with them about banning them using their facility. I have also included TL as another site that is getting spammed by them. It is not in the interest of Aweber to be associated with this and they have a strict anti-spam policy. Let's see what happens Paul -
Spammers Getting Through is Getting Old Quickly

What was it they were spamming about ? Did it involve anything to do with penny stocks or Canada stocks ? Paul -
In view of the fact that vwap needs volume to work at all, how have you gone about substituting it ? Paul

Learn to use your trading platform better and preferably using hotkeys as this will reduce the likelihood of placing the wrong trade. It is much easier to do the wrong this using a mouse. Paul

Are you able to attach a text file of the contents of the ELD as I am unable to open it ? Paul
-
You could try a MonteCarlo simulation as this will give an idea of your risk of ruin based on percent risk, reward factor and strike rate. I wrote and article on this which has a downloadable Excel spreadsheet that may help and I will pm you the link. Paul
-
In what context ? Can you give an example of what you are looking for ? Paul
-
Charlton, Basically "yes" to the above part of your post. This is not how we traded it at the time and as an example, if the Dow was bullish then we would take a trade when price touched the lower MPD to go Long and exit at vwap or better. Paul

This strategy was used around 2004 by Grey1, myself and a few others. Since then I have moved away from trading US stocks so I am unable to say whether it still works today but there is no reason that it shouldn't do in my view. Paul
-
I don't know but the strategy worked well. Paul
-
This was a strategy of Grey1 who has posted on here previously. One of the key elements is that it should only be used on trading days that are not trending and the way in which Grey1 suggested this be done is to see if the Dow opened at less than 50 points from the previous close. If so then the vwap pair trades were an option. Paul

Hopefully Google will at some point start an online auction facility similar to eBay. I have found that eBay acts exactly as all monopolies do offering poor service with ever increasing fee structures until someone gives them reason to change. Paul

In my view any vwap measure outside of intra-day is of little use at all. Paul
-
Iraj, You said earlier that automated trading is almost the only way to go, was this intr-day only or for EOD as well ? Also have you now switched to TS8.6 ? Paul
-
ed16888, Blu Ray has a much better understanding of your coding needs than I do as I am not that experienced in it. Also you are using a later version of TS than I am which would also makes it more difficult for coding your needs Good Luck. Paul
-
Iraj, Does this apply to all trading or is it specific to stocks ? Paul
-
I am using RS2000i so you have a more up to date version than I do and the code looks different but I will see what I can do. Paul

The background colours are a line of code when price approaches the pivot point. I wrote the indicator myself but it is specific to how I use them. I will take another look at it and see what changes may be needed to make it easier for others to use. I only use R1, PP and S1 for floor pivots and I know others use R2 and S2 as well. Paul
-
It sounds like you are using floor pivots but there are others such as Camarilla and DeMark. I do use Radarscreen with pivots but it is for use with Forex. I don't have specific alerts for when price breaks a pivot level but I do have colour changes on the background when price gets close to a pivot level. For me I have daily, weekly and monthly time frames using Floor, Camarilla and DeMark Pivots. I look for a confluence of pivots and then use price action to take a trade. Here is a screenshot of my RS set up. Paul
-
What pivots are you wanting to be alerted to and in what time frame ? Paul
-
Here is the globalvariable dll file (which may already be available elsewhere on the forum). Anyway you need to extract the file and place it into your program directory of Tradestation. Paul GlobalVariable22.zip

What format does Multicharts save easylanguage files in ? Is it ELD or something else ? Paul

There is another lesson to be learned here and that is to back up your pc using something like Acronis True Image. In the event that the pc get an error similar to that which you have then you can restore your pc exactly to how it was at the last incremental back up. I do this quite regularly and I am glad I did as I did need to once restore my pc which took about 1 hour. The alternative would have been hours and hours of reloading software, custom indicators as well as lost files that I could never recover. Paul
