No, this isn't a 'job' for me (never said it was) but my intention is also to make money and increase my wealth. That doesn't mean I expect to get rich, quickly or otherwise, which is probably what tempts the majority of people into trading, usually starting with FX or spread bets offering crazy leverage. If you survive that stage, you can be more realistic and concentrate on making a few points a day. All IMO, DYOR, etc, ono.

Comments noted. I don't think there's a 'right' or 'wrong' way to trade the Dow, or anything else, but from experimentation over quite a few years, I find that concentrating on minimising losses is the way forward. With practice, the pluses cancel out the minuses, and if you consistently make a profit you can scale up. Expecting to get wealthy is one of the biggest mistakes!

These days my 'trading plan' works on that basis. A profit is a profit! Picking up a few points here and there is never a failure, even if you could have made far more, theoretically.

Cheap oil means I'm uncharacteristically optimistic today. Hoping for a bit of a bounce from 800 now. (PS. All my long entries tend to make excellent shorts, though, so if 800 doesn't hold...)

Depends how many points you aim for. I'm happy to bag the occasional 10-15.

Spot on. Nowadays I just watch candles and volume (which is why I gave up on FX...). Apart from a couple of EMAs, the lines on my chart are all in my mind, so to speak.

We could always go back there and see what happens? T2W has ten times as many members.
