Springboards: "zones where traders are seeking balance (or equilibrium .." "A springboard can be said to exist when preparations have been made for, and the psychological moment has arrived for, a quick and important move" I started following this at the bar marked WREV after blue circles that indicated what may be a springboard.

I think I see it. Thank you, Db. I'll have it beside me when I look at Chapter 7 this weekend. If you wouldn't mind, related to noise and finding equilibrium.... I believe I have set this PAV tool to show 1 standard deviation of volume on each side of the mid line of volume. By inspection, does it look like I have accomplished that? If so, this is the kind of gadget that helps train my eyes. The mid line of volume extends on MCD. The other pink outlines show I standard deviation on each side of the midline. It looks like the volume pattern is skewed- not a normal distribution pattern. The other setup...on ABT, the pattern is more of a normal distribution. 68% of the volume falls between the top and bottom lines which are extended on this chart. The middle line is the midline. Volume did not follow the down prices outside the channel. Thanks again.

This annotation study in supply and resistance has been extremely helpful. The range is defined from the weekly here. I am moving on to the springboard section next week. It should help with the edges and fleshing out the charts. ( Thanks DB http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/blog.php?b=20)

I haven't read the book, but I do look at standard deviations. Allowing for stockcharts, does this illustrate the point? The envelope is 3 standard deviations using 20 periods. If this illustrates the point, I'll post one using % moves, standard deviation and PnF.

I am practicing identifying support and resistance and notating. (Thanks for the examples Db at http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/blog.php?b=33) Both charts seem to show areas of consensus with attempts at breaching both directions.

" the the large move up that wasn't supported by volume and the next wave up that had disproportionately high volume " Is this what is meant by comparative lifting power?

Now I see what Volume OHLC means in quotetracker.com software. There is no charge for the software. Some brokers provide data as part of using them. This is how XOM charts up both ways. Volume 500K.

Db-Sorry, I don't know how to "quote". Thank you so much for the charts on INTC and your clear answers. I like these 3 line break charts for the look inside volume and will answer your question about my opinion of potential accumulation using a 3 line break chart. Want to talk quant first? By inspection, the VAP pattern is more or less trimodal, implying 3 observable sets of occurances..so 3 boxes fit well here. You asked about my view of accumulation. Looking back, there has been a change in character of the volume pattern since late January that could fit accumulation. Staying above the half way mark..low volume retest, more volume on up bars than down bars. The upper chart shows standard deviation indicating more recent decreased price volatility. Now the motives come in. Is markup ready in the lower box? Will the middle boxers sell or hold into any rally? Your boxes seem valuable in giving focus for what is happening at the edges. I am looking forward to studying your dailies. TannisM

Why? Recognize my work? Hi. Db. I had some chocolate for you over Easter, but didn't know where to find you. Great to "see" you. The old days...1998.

I thought I would try to apply Db's eyeball methods post to a chart to give me something to follow. That seems to be the best way for me to get the hang of something. I picked INTC because I think it is reporting today. Maybe it will move. TannisM
