'Global Debt is a Holocaust Waiting to Happen.’
Gabe2004 replied to Ed Goldstein's topic in Market News & Analysis
I am sorry but I cannot explain this better. There was no Holocaust in 1929. Nor was there one in 2008. There was one in 1940-1945 in Europe. There was one in 1994 in Rwanda. There was one in 1915-1923 in the Ottoman Empire concerning Armenian. These are genocides=holocausts. Not a collaps of a stock market like in 1929 and 1987 and 2008. Gabe- 15 replies

'Global Debt is a Holocaust Waiting to Happen.’
Gabe2004 replied to Ed Goldstein's topic in Market News & Analysis
From the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Main Entry: ho·lo·caust Pronunciation: \ˈhō-lə-ˌkȯst, ˈhä- also -ˌkäst or ˈhȯ-lə-kȯst\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English, from Late Latin holocaustum, from Greek holokauston, from neuter of holokaustos burnt whole, from hol- + kaustos burnt, from kaiein to burn — more at caustic Date: 13th century 1 : a sacrifice consumed by fire 2 : a thorough destruction involving extensive loss of life especially through fire <a nuclear holocaust> 3 a often capitalized : the mass slaughter of European civilians and especially Jews by the Nazis during World War II —usually used with the b : a mass slaughter of people; especially : genocide I find that using the word Holocaust is totaly out of line since a financial calamaty has nothing to do with loss of life. Does Anyone Truly Make a Living Solely Trading the E-minis???
Gabe2004 replied to ktartarotti's topic in E-mini Futures
Watching some people who I know are making a decent living trading (more than 100K/year - is that enough?) I would say that you don't need more than 50K in your account to get there; many times even less than that. Gabe -

I must admit that your sale tactics are more sofisticated than the average shil who pops into some trading sites. Nevertheless, if you were not after grabbing money, you could have eliminated that part (offer of mentorship) from your site and from posting that fact here and just keep the INFORMATIVE and FUNNY parts of your blog. I am sure that most people on this site will see through you, thus I will not have to point out these things again. Good luck to you. Gabe -

So 86834, why are you here? If you fall into the category of real traders that are NOT in these forums to solicit for clients you should not have provided a link to your site which in a way is a solicitaion for clients. I don't have a problem with you doing what you do btw. I just wonder :helloooo: Gabe -

I wonder who met a mentor who was willing to provide reliable proof of their income...... Gabe -

UNLIMITED RISK ???? Why is it unlimited? It is up to you the trader to limit your risk by using stops which - btw - should be part of your trading plan You said that the reason people lose is because they don't understand that trading involve risk and this is where you logic seems flawed. By what you say, if I tell you taht I understand that there is risk in trading I will be a successful trader, and I am saying that that is not the case. Understanding the fact that there is risk involved in some endevour does not mean that people who take the risk will be immune from harm. Think about a rock climber. I am sure he/she are aware of the risk involved yet they do it anyway. Hopefully after a lot of traing and wearing protective gear and using the proper equipmen. If you see a person wanting to climb rocks without the above but he tells you that he understands the risk - will that recognition of risk avoid a catastrophy? I don't think so. Same with trading if you take a person who is not prepared (mentaly, financially and otherwise0 for trading but he acknowledges that trading is risky - will that help him not to lose? I don't think so. THe point I am trying to make is that recognition of risk is not the answer to successful trading. Gabe -

Your logic seems flawed. Are you saying that if one is aware of the risk associated with trading then they will not lose? I am sure most people are aware of the risk. What kills them (their account rather) is lack of a plan, lack of training, lack of discipline and lack of capital. Gabe -
USO trades almost 1:1 relative to CL and 1 CL = 2000 USO. Could you post a chart or two with your entries and exits? Gabe
-
I am sorry about your loss. I went through the same experience several times. What would you say is the difference between you live and sim trading? Gabe
-
Congratulations. Gabe

I agree with you 100%. There are some people in these forums who genuinely try to help. The problem is to find them; but once you do, they will accelerate your learning. Gabe
-
And knowing that a REAL treader makes 20K a day or losing 5K a day is helping your trading in what way? My experience is that you learn the most from the REAL traders who don't publish their P&L nor do they divulge their trading method explicitly. There are exceptions ofcourse but those are extremely rare. Gabe

This reminds me of a joke my father told me many years ago. (apparently I was asking a lot of questions ) A kid is aproaching his father and asks him a question. The father does not answer. After a few minutes the kid asks his father another question. The father does not answer. This goes on for a while. The kid asks a question but the father does not answer. At one point the mother tells the kid to stop bothering his father with questions, to which the father responds: "Let him ask. How else would he learn?" Not that we don't get answers here, it is just that Marko's post conjured up the joke. Gabe

Please do tell. How long? I think reading about the time it took other people to get THERE will maybe, diminish some of the frustration about how long it takes. Depends on how I look at the time I have spent on DELIBERATE learning and not thrill seeking (which I found was a big part of why I did not make progress for a long time) I would say that I am in my 2nd year. Overall it is more like 5 years. Timewise probably less than 2000 hours of effective learning. Since I have heard of OUTLIERS, I am not so disturbed by the above fact. There were many times when I thought that I GOT IT only to be disappointed. I believe that the FOG is clearing now. Time will tell. I felt that I made a big step forward when I stopped reading this and other forums during the day, stopped checking my email in the middle of the trading day, stopped answering my phone, stopped listening to music and basically just focused on the charts. Sometimes I cannot concentrate for too long and that is OK but the point is that when I am in learning mode or trading mode, there are not to be any other distractions. A long time ago when I was collecting a regular paycheck, I am sure I would have been fired if I would have done all the above mentioned things which were not related to my job. Just absorbing the movements of different instrumens throughout the day was of big help. Somehow it seems that our brain is putting the puzzle together if we just let it do ITS THING. Gabe

Concept cars are my favourites. Too bad most of them never make it to the show rooms. Gabe

I must have had a senior's moment as i was looking at UJ. The picture is the same but I have a long bias towards the EJ and the GJ. Gabe
-
The market is in coma. EJ is in the middle of a chop zone. If anything I think it is pointing down but I would not do anything. Gabe
-
GJ bounce? If yes, there is a good chance that index futures will bounce too. Gabe
-
Actually you can reduce your trading size. Switch to ETFs that mimic the futures. IWM for TF (1000 shares = 1 contract) SPY for ES (500 shares = 1 contract) USO for CL (2000 shares = 1 contract) GLD for GC (1000 shares = 1 contract) The above equates the size of the move in $ for the two instruments (shares vs contracts) in a given timeframe If you trade only 100 shares in each ETF, commisions will take a large portion of your profits and can even cause you to end up with a loss compared with trading futures but this is a good way of training with live ammunition so to speak. The only problem with switching to ETFs is that you need an account of at least 25,000$ because of the PTD (Pattern Day Trader) rule. Gabe

I guess you did not like the animated avatar and tried to have only the stationary part. It looks fuzzy so here is a clear one. When you convert a .gif file to .jpg the resolution drops (sometimes) and the picture becomes fuzzy. It botherd me more than you probably. Since I haven't found an ATTACHMENT option in the PM section I had to clutter this thread once more. Gabe
