  1. Regretfully, I have decided to withdraw from The Race. My trading results are my responsibility, but so are my decisions concerning the environment I trade in, and I do feel as if my participation in The Race was causing me to focus more on dollar results, participants' standings in The Race, etc. rather than on good, systematic trading.

I wish the very best trading to all who continue in The Race. I really would like to see someone achieve this competition's stated goal!

    Best regards,

    FX Cowboy

  2. FX_Cowboy... i just want to commend you on your faithful posting of your blotters. It looks like you've had a rough go of it these past few weeks but are bouncing back.

A lot of guys would fall out when it starts going rough but you've kept right with it. Kudos to you and keep at it!!!

Out of curiosity - have the drawdowns you've experience been fairly typical of your method?

    Thanks for the encouragement, daedalus.

You're absolutely right that I was struggling there for a while, and at one point, I strongly considered dropping out of The Race.

In all honesty (and humility), I must admit that the large drawdowns I experienced had nothing to do with my system, and I wondered whether participating in this competition might be making it more difficult for me to trade well. (Some of the other traders have alluded to this negative influence, and I agree that it can be a factor.)

However, for now, I have decided to stick with it, and to try to increase my focus and self-discipline so that I can avoid similar drawdowns as we go along. I'll continue evaluating my performance in this light as The Race progresses.

    Best regards,

    FX Cowboy

  3. Thanks for noticing guys. This is probably my best day ever in percentage terms. There was plenty of movement today in EUR/USD, and that helped a lot.

  4. FX_Cowboy,

I've been extremely impressed that you are able to scalp so actively through Oanda. Your results look very consistent overall. Over the years, I have tried to trade like this on several occasions but my results become hugely determined by the market conditions - high vola this works well, but its the medium / low vola that hurts me as I overtrade in those conditions. Kudos for being able to make it work, and through a bucket shop too!

I'm enjoying the thread thus far, thanks for maintaining it Thales.

    With kind regards,

    MK

Thank you, MidKnight, for your kind words and encouragement.

I had a good week this week, and I will be working hard to maintain or improve my consistency as we progress. I'm not a pure scalper, however. Several of my trades this week lasted hours. One went as far as 150 pips. A couple even hit their targets while I was sleeping. But you are correct that many of my trades end up being fairly quick scalps.

    Best regards,

    FX Cowboy

  5. Trading activity on 5/20. As usual, one row overlaps. I am considering taking tomorrow off. If so, I will just forward my weekly results to Thales at the end of the day.
