[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
Bearbull replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
Understand discipline, money management, psychology are the key factors to be a successful trader, however it is also imperative to generate confidence in what one is looking at on the charts, no point being told over and over again, smart money is at work, how does one learn to read the footprints, how one can find an edge etc, then there will be incentive to acquire discipline leading to consistent execution of a particular strategy/setup. Most folks who will be at the symposium have probably heard of VSA or read Tom Williams book and realised that it is not a black box system, hence there is no question of seeking a holy grail here. We can debate this forever, it is a chicken and egg scenario.- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II

Understand you are back with the TG camp for presentations at the 3 weekend Symposiums in April, 2008. Few colleagues have asked me about this, perhaps you are in a better position to clarify: 1. Is this going to be a repetition of the countless seminars and webinars in the past by Gavin & Co., pointing out buying/selling climax, upthrust, no demand, playing field and ofcourse that the markets are manipulated , that 90% of the volume is professional activity and that the media never reports the truth about the markets, nor do the guys at the stock exchange, ( has been repeated a zillion times.) not to mention the 60min general introductions by Gavin 2. or is it that after illustrating the various principles, you folks are going to get into the real nitty-gritty of trading, ie. how to trade with these signals, what are the confirmation bars, what should be the stops, how to manage the trade, where is the exist, what will negate the setup., Strategies/tactics, some solid teaching For you have ask, this VSA stuff has been going around for over 7yrs and yet there is so much confusion, why? Is it that most have failed to grasp or could it be something to do with the METHOD OF TEACHING.- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
Bearbull replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
When anybody posts and explains/defends from a position of sound immutable knowledge, it appears as combatant. I have no particular affiliation with Db, just realise that what he states has solid irrefutable logic, that is if one keeps an open mind, Db I think in all his threads has always maintained that his trading is based on reading pure price action with volume against relevant support and resistance levels, period. He does not engage in cutesy names, dragonfly, butterfly, greenhorn, or as in the TG Bootcamp "Palm tree in Alaska", "Polar Bear in Hawaii". Quite difficult to understand why is it that folks have to engage in combative arguments in these instances whereas when there is an attempt to expose charlatons, which could save many newbies coming to these threads from throwing away their savings, that some come out to defend them, well will have to put it down to quirk of human nature:- 2244 replies

Sure is, ever consider going into mentorship, you could make a fortune, setup a hefty entry fee, people would then queue up, give freely, they don't want to know, human nature, never changes;)- 2244 replies

Bearbull replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
What a great insight, candid, lucid and without any fluff and all given freely, still folks tend to whine and winge, However if a couple of brainwashed stooges were sent in to these thread to trumpet first about their chance encounter with their godsent mentor, then conduct webinars purporting to possess an uncanny ability to read the market, born out of an omniscient, clairvoyant gift from the divine, then offer a mentoring course for 5k, first ensuring to have a prior interview to ascertain whether the wannabe mentee is a suitable candidate for psychological control, reject those of strong minds who might challenge and upset the boat during the classes, create an illusion of realtime trade calls, keep reminding the audience how privileged they were out the many millions out there to be in the presence of a supreme master of the markets. 4 weeks rapidly pass by as the mentees are left bemused as to: did they learn " How To Trade". But wait for it, Lo and Behold the answer for that is to embark on a further 10 sessions of one to one 90min sessions at the cost of $1000 each. Precisely, that is the reason for the post, to dispel the claims of any mystical mentors, these reversal time periods have been known for a long time, like everything else in this business, they work some time and at other times they do not, however for some who do not wish to stare at the computer whole day long and have desire to incorporate into their trading strategy and test it out, it can be productive.- 2244 replies

This may interest some who wish to employ VSA, Price/volume, Support/resistance with certain time periods during trading hours. Also highlights the fact no one person has special mystical insight into the workings of the market. DAY TRADER CLOCK STRATEGY.doc- 2244 replies

Glad to see you here Db, have your little book (collection of pdf files), it is gem. Have gone through your threads on other sites, was amazed at how much you have freely contributed. Guys here is man who knows a thing or two about Price/Vol, Pure Wyckoff, no fluff, and no mention of cutesy setups, what I have learnt from his posts is establishing strategy , then tactics , testing them out thoroughly and onto application and all without any mentoring programs;)- 2244 replies

Bearbull replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
There is no question of seeking for The Holy Grail, mentorship is sought with the trust and belief that the mentor has practical expertise to guide you through both psychological and technical issues, to teach how to identify signals based on price/vol, then how to trade (crucial, crucial, crucial) strategy and tactics of entry, trade management, If you come out of the program not having learnt how to trade what has that achieved, you find the same in TG Bootcamp and TG customer webinars, "How you trade is up to you" What if similar teachings were offerred in other fields of uncertainty, diving, flying, even driving, would you take training from somebody who has no proven practical experience and has no ability to show you how it done. Then when being told now it is upto you, would you take off in the plane, or dive into the middle of atlantic, ofcourse not. As for learning with mistakes, in diving, flying, the first mistake would be the last.- 2244 replies

[VSA] Volume Spread Analysis Part II
Bearbull replied to Soultrader's topic in Volume Spread Analysis
Glad you appreciate my point of view, I have no axe to grind, merely making an observation based on the evidence in front of me. A couple of promotional webinars do not reflect the ability of the presentor/mentor to trade in realtime with realmoney from his own account, and that also not even from a SIMULATED ACCOUNT. There are very few out there who can do that. However for the sum being charged for this program, one would expect that, wouldn't you agree????- 2244 replies

I sincerely hope, SoulTrader that your trust is not misplaced. The question of discipline etc is relevant when realtime trading with realmoney involving emotions is taking place, hope that is what you observed. Anyhow the proof of pudding will come when some of the folks from here enroll into the program and emerge to narrate their experiences of whether they were truly enlightened or led up the garden path. It does not appear to be so from a post by Nick (aka Blowfish) a former mentee elitetrader and Sebastian's comments.- 2244 replies

Have seen a couple of webinars by this guy now, a colleague sent me this link: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=108364&highlight=sebastian+manby Has anybody asked if he trades with realmoney in realtime? or is it they he has mastered the art of creating an illusion of trading in realtime i.e put up a live chart, baffle the students with a lot of bull, let a few bars pass by and then point out what should have been or could have been an entry and profit. the students are left with a feeling that was a realtime call;):haha:- 2244 replies
