American style options can be assigned anytime, so you're always in danger of being assigned! Usually however, this is not what happens. Options are usually assigned when they are exercised by their holder, which usually happens when the option is deep in the money, or after expiration if they are 0.75 points or more in the money. Hey, Would appreciate help in learning how to use protective puts at earnings announcement time. I recently had a stock drop 7 points after earnings were announced even though, charts looked good. I am new here and would like help in using this strategy, how the charts should look, and what Depot parameters to use. Jacoh
