Brown, thanks and you are right, this is one crucial point. Another thing I realized today is, that I cannot wait for my "real" entry. So I enter too early, but especially at decision points of the market this leads to random results. So its not real trading, more guessing. These entries together with too high targets lead in result to stops and BE's. I will try to work on my entries first now. Less entries, but clearly defined using limited orders. Then stops, targets and money management. Otherwise I will have good days and bad days, but the bad ones will eat me alive. Hal

Today I was focused, but I made one bad trade after another. I traded on, its just a sim account. I wanted to see my mistakes, I make more than one. So its time for some homework. Tomorrow I trade on. Hopefully I figure out what goes wrong on these days, its time to rewrite my plan.

Today I was not concentrated. Didn't follow my plan. Ignored my charts. And can be lucky, that I haven't lost more. But tomorrow is a new day. A clean day.

Hi Daedalus, no problem, I like to share them. Walter and Jerry and others shared so many ideas, and if they wouldn't have done that, I wouldn't even know anything about these indicators, systems and so on. So this is the spirit, that makes forums useful. OK, I have rechecked my parameters for the ADXVMA indicator. The black line uses 6 units as adx and vma unit. The quick green line 2. Assuming, that I have made no errors while implementing the indicator (I use JAVA), these settings should deliver similar results with the implementations for Ninja and other platforms. (I don't use these, so I can't compare mine) But I have changed something, and this might be important for especially the quick line. Instead of using the Close of a bar for the final calculation of the ADXVMA value, I used for a long time the (High + Low) / 2. Currently I use the VWAP of the bar. I do that, because I calculate the values intra bar every 5 secs (not only on bar close) and I think, that it deletes some noise regarding the line movement, while the actual bar is forming. What way is better? I don't know. I guess it depends on the trader and his style. I have attached some charts (NQ 300 and 1500 with the ADXVMA's and also two more with JPerls VWAP and the ADXVMA's) Well, on the VWAP charts, the blue line is the VWAP restarted at 9:30 EST. The cyan lines are the +- 1/2/3 SD lines. All charts start somewhere at 0:00 EST. The VWAP is also updated every 5 secs. I guess, I should really start to blog soon. Well, and yes, even with all these lines, keeping it simple, will be the key. If you have further questions, just ask me. Hal

OK, so here are my results for today. In sum less than yesterday, but I gained more confidence, and had no fear and avoided greed, but well sometimes there was ignorance. But all in all a very good day, with the usual difficult start. One more point to work on. Daedalus, you are right, its Walters (et al.) work (black and green lines). If I remember right, I use his settings, but maybe I have changed the price input a little bit, but that should not be much of importance. I will check it. The second Indicator is Jerry Perls work. It adds a component, that is independent from the time or tick frame you are using. I will write more during the weekend, I too had my difficulties with NQ 50 tick charts. I am too slow for that. Currently I use a 1500 and 300 tick chart, before that a 1250 and 250 tick chart (and a 50 as well). OK, more during the weekend. One last remark now; IMHO Walters work is of general value. And thank you for giving me a heads up! Well, if I can produce 50 $ a day on average, with no heavy draw downs in between, I intend to go live using real money in May. Otherwise, I have to do more homework. So here are my results:

Concentration is gone, and I stopped trading after that. During the last days I have implemented a little bit more within my software. So my trades have been more experimental and because of this, I haven't posted them. Yesterday was bad with other charts (indicators). So I decided to go on were I have stopped trading, and reduced myself from 4 down to 2 charts, with my currently favored indicators. After this break, I have to admit, that I still don't use them properly, or in other words, I still too often break my own rules, so I am not happy with today, but I can focus on this problem from now on. I have just to do, what my charts are telling me. Period BTW, I have attached my two charts too. I will not make a secret out of the indicators I am using, both tools (algorithms) are here from TL. I just try to use them in my own way. I use them as my tools, but I don't use the original systems/setups, that were build around them. But both systems are worth to be studied in detail. (And I guess they work better than mine so far!) Just that you know. And last but not least, I have to tell all the people, that were part in the development of these tools: THANK YOU!

Well, I haven't tried to trade the ES for some time. Last week I started to implement a price versus volume (or vice versa) subplot, because I thought, I might need it (blue is the color of the running day). There are still some things to do, as always. But here is, what would have been my setup chart for today, just for fun. Anyway, my big problem so far is, that I sometimes just don't trade, what my chart is telling me. :crap: So, just for fun, compare mine to yours, if you trade the ES. P.S.: Had to add my silly signature once more, I hope you like my kind of humor, but its really about different people seeing different things differently ... :helloooo:

I use special security devices with all my brokers. So if someone knows my ID and PW it is not worth much. Better than nothing. Part two is the computer and network you are using, but this might be a long story. There are many things you can do: - Firewall - Dedicated machine (no use of browsers) - ...

I use my new combination of two indicators for one week, while I was totally confusing myself during Monday and Tuesday, it starts to make sense for me now. So next week, I might see, if this is really the case. Have a nice weekend! :thumbs up:

Frank - It helps me to focus on my problems, that I still have. But it also documents my way, and maybe it helps others, if they read this thread at some point in the future. Now to trading: Today I started late, missed good signals, and chased the first trades. Mr. Hyde has taken control. Interestingly the bad trades have been once more these impulse trades. A second problem was this one contract approach, so I let some nice scalps go. One trade was 20 ticks+ up and ended scratch. Wasn't really necessary (-> Money Management issue). But finally I saved my ... for today:

4-1-09 Today I traded only the setups I like, in other words I followed my not written plan. Somehow I think more in pictures so far. Anyway I have to work on a written plan, I know. While I wait, I use another simulated simulation account for my more stupid experiments (for the Mr. Hyde in me). At least today it helped me. Hopefully it stays like today, during the last days and weeks, I just traded losers. Anyway here is my result for today:

I have implemented a new indicator during last weekend, well and now I try to combine it. So far, I seem to fool myself with it, maybe I take it off again, maybe I figure it out. At least this should be the last indicator I have implemented for now. Now I have to deal with (better: "use"; just to avoid misunderstandings) them. I hope I will be able to post my results soon, but I think, I have to rework my trading plan first (during the next days).

Well, I don't know CQG script as well, so be careful with my thoughts! First thing what I see is: vol:= IF( HasVal(Vol(@)) AND Vol(@) > 0, Vol(@), 1) ; My understanding is, that the IF syntax in somehow: IF ( what is it, -> true then do Vol(@), -> false then do 1); Now false would lead to a volume of 1, my question is: Why not zero or "nothing"? ...

Today somehow was not a nice day to trade. Regarding my trades, I followed my plan at the beginning. Then I started some impulse trades (losers). Then I found my focus back. So all in all, its was a good starting point for next week. Using one contract, I should just forget about a runner, these trades consistently kill my day.

Hi Brown, I am still here. :ciao: Well, I have tested some things during the last 2 weeks, and I hope that I will back next week with my simulation trades. This last two weeks; I would have lost a lost a lot of bucks ("playing"! with 10 or 20 NQ lots) but it was necessary to find my focus again. (Btw.: Not clever at all, if you/I couldn't trade 10 or 20 in real!!! :helloooo:) Anyway, regarding to your timestamps issue, I will include them, because I have no clue, how someone can reverse a discretionary trader by using his/her time stamps. lol Back to me (ego trip!!!); I see my weakness, and I have to work on it. Lets see. Time moves on. Time will come. P.S.: Even for my blog. I have changed my mind during the last year. It is all a process and it needs time. The way might be difficult, the solution might look easy. Yade, yade, ... (or so) :crap:

I found this post on "The Normality Assumption and Fractal Nature of Asset Prices" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Topic Of The Month March, 2009"

I agree, been there, done it (and still do it). Well sometimes I wonder, if it was worth it, but anyway; I still like it somehow.

Today I would have lost ca. 700 $. It was one of these days again. On these days, I know that a trade will not work out, just after I entered, but I stay in. Btw. tomorrow I will not be able to trade. Then I will reactivate my blog too, preparing my transition. Lets see if it works out during the next two months.

Today I took just 3 trades during the session, because my concentration went down. Here they are:

Well here is my opinion, a white list would be good, just because betrayers (the other way) have attorneys. the problems with a white list are, - not complete (maybe no real problem, it can grow). - ! what, if somebody looses cash using someone from a white list! And sometimes, like in trading, you just know in hindsight. Look at Mr. Bolze. I trusted him, but never was a customer (would have been against my basic rule; be responsible for yourself). Everything made sense. Now it might more sense. I don't trust him anymore now. But I don't have a clue. It up to others to judge on him. Its up to judges. Until then he is innocent, and maybe even after. -
I don't need meds, I just like answers! Give me some! Well, time; Coffee helps! :coffee: Some say its late! Some say its early! Hal P.S.: ??? No clue about HAL yet ???
