  1. He would be a hypocrite if he were being investigated for tax evasion and at the same time saying that the rich should pay their fair share. On the other hand, he is disputing the amount he owes based on his interpretation of the tax code. That is something that everyone can do and has the right to do. It is your obligation to yourself to make sure that you pay as little as possible. You are implying that he is a hypocrite because he is saying that the rich should pay their fair share and he is trying to pay as little as possible. Do you expect him to be willing to pay more than he should because of his statements? He wants the tax codes to change so that the wealthy pay more. He is not suggesting that the the wealthy should pay more than they have to.
  2. Sure, kids continue doing drugs; however drug use has declined and so has crime over the last few decades. It is hard to measure how much of an impact "just say NO!" had on drug use. There were many factors that helped reduce drug use.
  3. Casinos have a statistical edge which is permanent and can be tweaked up or down by changing the rules that you have to play by.Very, very different from a trading edge.
  4. you give yourself a 90 with a monthly roi of 10%? You should give yourself a 200.
  5. It worked here. MMS made some quick changes regarding vendor status almost as fast as the thread regarding vendors appeared. Maybe we should all complain about not having a GGW feed.
  6. US capitalism isn't "capitalism". Our system is more akin to corporatism which is a shade of fascism which is socialism for the wealthy. The conservative media tends to focus on the 50% who reap more benefits from the federal govt than they pay. It is also fair to focus on the percentage of those at the higher income levels who use the USA and its congress to make money and they pay only a small fraction of their income in taxes. You could easily argue that the rich reap more than the poor from US policy and should pay more.
  7. Looks like you have taken a liking to Bolinger Bands. I hope you find them useful.
  8. I do not like that the unions have gotten involved. With unions it is going to take the direction of getting lost in a right and left battle. More control, regulation, etc, by the government isn't my idea of improvement for anyone.
  9. Wash Rinse and Repeat. Trade in your sleep. Five minutes a day. Riches are around the corner.
  10. It is you. the numbers are not fudged. But it may be a good idea to shield your bedroom with tinfoil just in case.
  11. BY EMILY MALTBY AND ANGUS LOTEN More than half of $4 billion in federal funds disbursed this year to spur small-business lending by community banks was used to repay bailout funds that the banks received under the government's Troubled Asset Relief Program. The Small Business Lending Fund was meant to raise capital at smaller banks, which tend to lend more heavily to small businesses, in the hopes of jump-starting growth and employment. But instead of directly lending to small businesses, many of the banks used the money to rid themselves of higher-cost TARP debt and tougher restrictions. "It was basically a bailout for 100-plus banks," said ... Basically they used the money to free themselves so that they could pay themselves bonuses again.
  12. It apparently also attracts traders with a limited view.
  13. A good way to do it might be for a trader to permit his broker to publish his trading results at a common location. The broker already has access to the account results and could post it with the trader's permission without revealing account numbers, passwords, etc. You don't have to give this information to your broker or anyone because the broker already has it. Trust in your broker has already been established. Another way to do it is to become a CTA. Then, posting false results becomes a crime. So, there is trust that the results are real.
  14. Do you really think that hundreds of thousands of people walked into mortgage brokerage offices and lied or could it be that mortgage brokers advertized $750,000 loans at $1200 a month in poor neighborhoods? Could it be that when a borrower wondered if he would qualify for the loan, the broker said, don't worry about it, you don't need to show income or assets to get the loan. A lot of these borrowers were people who never owned a home before. Its called predatory lending. Lenders hired unskilled and unqualified brokers to sell mortgages that were unstable to people who could not understand them. By chance during the same time period, a few investment banks were speculating in CDS without understanding them and we, the people of the USA, immediately helped them out. So that they wouldn't lose their banks, jobs, or houses.
  15. I suspect it is not true. They recorded a particle traveling faster than the speed of light. There isn't a computer that can execute a full trade faster than the speed of light; however it makes for good fantasy.
  16. As traders who know better, we should want what's best for our countries.
  17. Are trying to determine the relationship between time and risk?
  18. Are the basics of society that corporations are well represented and the citizens are not? What are the basics of the society that will get ruined? You must have something in mind or you wouldn't mention it.
  19. Instead of getting a massage belt, focus on making money. Then when you have enough money, have a stripper come to your house once a day and pay her to rub your back. If you are only trading sim, then have your wife do it. In all seriousness, if it is a vibrating type, it will give you temporary relief. Probably not a bad idea if you have issues. If you have disc problems, the vibrating could move a disc fragment and cause you pain.
  20. The protest is exactly the right way to do it. I hope they have the impact they seek. The police are doing their jobs and taking orders. Most of the police are middle income blue collar employees living in the 5 boroughs and all have been impacted by the same issues that the college kids are protesting against. They are typically less than 50 years old, and have bought homes in the last decade and are underwater. Given a choice, they would be on the same side as the kids. The police are being made to deal with it and no politician wants to touch this. Speaking against the protestors would support the idea that govt is in bed with Wall St. Speaking in favor of the protestors, would ensure that you never get elected again. It really is the beginning of the perfect storm. The protests in Egypt which lead to the changes were due to the fact that food prices had risen so high because of The Bernank printing presses, that Egyptians could barely afford to feed their families. What do you have to lose if you are already starving? It may not seem that bad here in the USA, but for those who are impacted, it is very bad. These kids are right in the sweet spot of it all. Loaded with student loans, needing to make payments, and unable to find work, yet Wall st firms are able to pay record bonuses because they were bailed for making bad decisions. In fact, bad trading decisions.
  21. I can't stand when college kids try to get in the way of good old fashioned oppressive American capitalism.
  22. Is social or economic class different than race or religion when it comes to voting rights? Should wealthy individuals not be allowed to vote on issues that are only of interest to the non-wealthy? If you need to scratch your head and wonder were the money goes, look up to the wealthier classes and not to the poor. More money is spent in this country that benefits the wealthy than money that is spent benefiting the poor. Sounds like you might have listened to a little too much conservative radio. It's easy to be a fool if you live a relatively healthy and wealthy life and naive to assume that everyone who receives more than they pay is scamming the govt. Personally, I am completely against paying federal taxes, but have no issue with helping a person in need of financial or medical assistance.
  23. The majority of 401k's allow you to call and have your positions liquidated at the end of the day. The broker doesn't need to be involved or even know or care. I think IBD used to have a mutual fund redemption index which showed that when mutual fund redemptions were at an extreme, the market bottomed and visa versa.
  24. I think he might actually aid in promoting the Master of the Universe image that GS thrives on.
  25. Seems like they are putting controls on volatility. There will be lots of unintended consequences.
