Such a student who is deemed to pose a terrorist threat will justifiably be held at gunpoint. That is common sense when you have a gun and there is a terrorist threat. It's the same rational for putting hand cuffs on 5 year old kids. The difference is the gun. Are you going to claim that gun owners are smarter?

Get a psychologist. The monster will eventually fade away. You'll be able to lock the gun up.

I am not a legislator so anything I say is going to sound dictatorial. Make people responsible for the disposal of their gun. Make it so that they can only sell guns back to authorized dealers to make certain that they do not end up in the wrong hands. Make people responsible for keeping their guns under lock and key at all times. If there house isn't safe enough to hold a gun, then they should keep it somewhere where it is safe. If most guns that bad guys have are obtained illegally, then actions should be taken to minimize the supply of illegal guns. If the guns originated in the US, then measures should be taken to prevent hand guns from being stolen. I don't know enough of how guns enter the illegal gun market. Stolen is my guess. Related, but probably more important, is to do something about the drug issue in the US. crime would cease to exist as we know it. Once again, I am not a legislator.

Not prohibition. There are plenty ways to force people to act more responsibly with guns. That family that was massacred in NM had weapons not under lock and key. Could the kid have killed the family anyway? Of course he could have. But the father was just another irresponsible gun owner. May he rest in peace. No one deserves that.

Guns On Campus: Texas, Arkansas Legislators File To Allow Concealed Carry At Colleges I was unaware that constitutional rights were God given. What troubles me is that we had more than one forefather who wrote the constitution which means that we do not believe in only one God making us in fact, if not in effect, polytheistic and, therefore, subject to eternal damnation. Could it be that the constitution will lead us to hell? Is this some sort of left wing, commie, socialist, facist, jewish plot? Don't take away my medicare!

Texas College Shooting Update: Both suspects in Lone Star College shooting in custody - Crimesider - CBS News A gun sure does come in handy in an argument. Guns don't kill people, arguments do.

Sounds intriguing and dangerous.

There are not that many schools that have armed security present. But, arm faculty in every school as has been proposed and the accidents will start happening. It's just math.It would probably work out to where the benefits of the added security would be drowned by the additional shootings, accidents, etc. Certainly! Adding risk doesn't make any sense to me unless it actually nets out to lower loss.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund hosted the Next Generation RKBA Scholars Seminar in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 7, and 8, 2012. Twenty-five select scholars heard, among others, Professor Randy Barnett, Professor Robert Cottrol, Professor Nicholas Johnson, Professor Joyce Malcolm, Dr. Stephen Halbrook, and Don Kates. No bias whatsoever, correct? Slap Harvard on it and it becomes legitimate?

Perhaps you did not read it or you read it and feign selective ignorance. Like so many well written pieces of NRA propaganda, it compares violent crime rates in jurisdictions where guns have become restricted to jurisdictions where guns are not restrictive and propose paradoxy. Then they compare short term and long term statistics. They exclude other influences of trending cultural, social, and legal differences. In short it is propaganda. There is big money in weak gun laws. All countries are not the same and comparing them " willy nilly" is data-mining to strengthen a weak hypothesis when it has no merit on its own. CHICAGO/NEW YORK, Dec 28 (Reuters) - In a sharp contrast between two of the nation's largest cities, Chicago recorded its 499th murder of 2012 on Thursday night while New York reported 414 murders as of Friday even though it has more than three times the population, according to police. Plagued by gang violence, Chicago surpassed last year's murder total of 433 in October and is set for the highest rate of homicide since the third largest U.S. city recorded 512 in 2008. The number is likely to top 500 on the last weekend of the year. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced on Friday that the nation's largest city could finish the year with the lowest number of murders and shootings since 1963, when it began keeping comparable data. The number of murders this year in New York is only about one-fifth the total of 2,245 homicides recorded in the peak year of 1990. Sure, everyone wants to take credit for improvements that occur. The NY experience I am sure is not just a result of stricter gun rules, but the NRA conveniently leaves out the NY statistics since NY has some of the most restrictive and punishable gun laws in the US and sells the Chicago experience. But accordingly, from the study, shouldn't we expect gun violence to increase in NY since they have tighter gun rules? Datamining. You seem to trust your dad. Ask your dad if adding guns to a situation would increase the chances of gun related violence or decrease it. While you are at it. Ask your dad about which situation he would be more comfortable with: If you told him you were going to a party where everyone there would be armed. Or, if you told him you were going to a party where guns were banned.

I did not see your last reference and will read it. You are coming in mid conversation. comparisons have been made of assault weapons and squirrel guns. \We didn't for political reasons, but you agree that we could have and will if we have too. You are making a somewhat silly assertion that we couldn't/ Firearms are dangerous. They do not belong in schools. People who are experienced with firearms are capable of making mistakes with them. The more firearms the more mistakes with firearms. Is this not true? The more firearms, the more likely they are to end up in the hands of someone who will misuse them. Can you agree with this? if we reduce the number of guns in circulation, we will reduce the likely of a gun ending up in the hands of someone who will misuse them? Is that a radical statement? Are these liberal ideas?

Not a lot to do with the kids being white. Has to do with them being kids and being close to home. No matter where my home was, I would feel the same had it happened near that home. I make no apologies for living where I live.

I don't live in fear feeling that I need to carry a gun. I don't fear the boogie man like you guys do. Word twisting has little value other than entertainment value. Too many irresponsible people have guns. Anything that can minimize that number is a good thing. If guns made the world safer, then 5 people would not have been shot on Gun Appreciation Day at the gun shows. No one was injured at the art festival that occurred 5 miles away from each event. I find it funny that you can't bring a loaded weapon into a gun show. If guns are such a good thing, then why can't they be loaded? Doesn't loading them make them better? Why do they want loaded guns in every school but not in gun shows?
-
It takes getting hit close to home. Racism has nothing to do with it unless you want to stir controversy. Columbine may as well have been on the other side of the world for all I cared at the time. They too were white kids. I figured the gun issue was a western or southern issue and not necessarily a north eastern issue. I was wrong and unfortunately it took the lives of 26 people 20 of whom were 6 years old to open my eyes to the issue. I am sure there are more like me that are not impacted yet by the gravity of the issue yet. But it is coming to a neighborhood near you soon. Too many whacked out people have guns in their possession.

He should put 25 w and 25 black into each bowl. No matter which bowl he gets he has a 50% chance of living.

N.M. shooting victims are chaplain, wife, 3 kids Yes, I have no idea of what I am talking about. Guns are perfectly safe in the home. Far more guns get used for suicide and domestic violence than they do to battle armed intruders. I am sure that suicide and domestic violence would occur with or without guns, but heck you may as well use the gun if you got it right?

Ind. man shoots himself while leaving gun show | abc11.com Private gun sales halted following shooting | Video | abc11.com Dealer accidentally shoots man at Ohio gun show | abc11.com In this last article the gun dealer shot his friend. You would think that he would know how to use a gun since he is a dealer. I would say that the guy that got shot had one friend too many.

A world where you live in fear is your world and not a real world. Fear is an illusion of the mind. It is your choice to remain disabled by your fear. It was not one accident. It was 3 separate instances of firearms accidentally hurting 5 people. These people would not have been hurt if guns were not there. In fact, at one of the events, they even halted private gun sales and would not let you come in with guns. Yes, not letting you come in with a gun is a gun ban. Friggin awesome! guns banned at a gun appreciation event. JUST FRIGGIN AWESOME!! You can't make better stuff up. Too bad they weren't smart enough to do that beforehand. But, according to NRA cult members, these events should have been the safest events in the USA since there were so many guns there. I bet those 5 people wish there went to the Dixie bacon eating event across town. They wouldn't have gotten shot there.

I would bring weapons with me if I went to buy drugs in mexico or honduras. But I won't buy drugs and do not need a gun in mexico or honduras. I would not travel to the area where drugs are purchased or sold or taken. I have been to mexico. In fact, I got into a fight in mexico. I did not need a gun. Did not want a gun and am glad I did not have a gun. Plainly, I do not live in fear and do not need to carry a gun.
-
You should do some homework and hone your cause and effect statements. Do a little research instead of blindly repeating falsities. The bad guys you are talking about in Mexico control a multi-billion dollar illegal drug trade, As you know, but act ignorant toward, they are the ones doing all the killing. Your comparison is foolhardy. The escalation in gun violence is a result of them attempting to protect their business. It is not Mexican citizens who bought guns and starting shooting because guns are illegal. Mexican citizens have no reason to shoot at the drug cartels. This is all really silly. You are talking about a drug issue and not a gun issue.

removing guns from circulation won't reduce the number of gun deaths? Very simple and elementary. Less guns = less gun deaths. Very tough for an NRA cult member to understand. if it is tough for you to understand, then you are in good company. Banning certain guns would not infringe upon your right to own guns. No one goes hunting with an assault weapon. Stop acting like a a know nothing red neck. When our govt is ready to do something against us, you will last about 3 seconds with you arsenal of weapons. You will be annihilated. Once again, I will point out the irony of the shootings at Gun Appreciation Day. 5 people were shot for nothing. They were shot because there were a lot of guns there. We are not Mexico. You are comparing cherries and acorns
-
They do. It's called Gun Appreciation Day. Sorry, I just can get over the irony of the 5 people being shot at Gun Appreciation Day. According to the brain trust of the gun nuts, those shows should have been the safest place in America. I will bet anyone that the incidence of injury was easily 1000 times that of events that were not gun shows on the same day.
-
I think we should have gun appreciation day everyday. They will slowly eliminate themselves. We can add something stupid like a contest to be the last man standing. They will take the cue.
