Pesticides and herbicides, cars, hammers, steak knives, and guns? Do they really all belong in the same group? Find me a story of someone shooting herbicide across the room and killing someone. Show me an article where innocent bystanders where killed by a car driving by with steak kniives or pesticides. Show me an article of 3 gun shows where 5 people were shot by people who were supposed to know how to handle guns but were unable to handle them properly. Fear is a horrible thing. It makes you say and do things that you normally wouldn't

Precisely the irony. The gun owner will face no charge. He did nothing wrong except endangering the world. He is a law abiding citizen who has a right to own a gun.

Arrests in theft of 111 handguns from Springfield Smith & Wesson plant | WWLP.com Wow! Just like stealing a case of milk. I guess it costs too much to properly secure weapons at the S&W plant. Way to mind those profits. I am not sure why they are skimping. You can charge anything for a gun. they should have no problem getting more money from fearful gun buyers. I suppose S&W supports the NRA and is a responsible gun manufacturer. keep in mind that these guys got caught. We aren't considering the guys that don't get caught.

ATF Raids Gun Shop Where CT Shooter?s Mother Bought Gun Used in Massacre | Video | TheBlaze.com 30 rifles stolen from this store. Imagine! The case of a law abiding citizen who has a permit to sell firearms acting irresponsibly. He has instruments which can kill and he doesn't even watch the front door. And, for all the NRA loving jackasses, a firearm is very different than a hammer even though a hammer can kill. This so happens to be the store where Nancy Lanza bought her weapon.

Good Post! There is something called I/R theory which proposes that someone who does not have high self esteem is out of his comfort zone if he achieves a bit of success, such as a lottery win, or a lucky trade, etc. He will, then, through self sabotage, whittle down the success until he is back in his comfort zone. The way to fix it is to increase his self esteem. I suppose I would be a thousandaire. I don't use the money for anything other than building my account. I made a double digit return in 2012 and am very content, but the money on its own couldn't fund a family in Appalachia. Making millions in the market means trading much, much bigger size. It is a very different game than trading 1-10 lots. I assume that in time as my account grows that I will learn to play that game, but if I don't I will remain content to take what I am taking.

Yes, I simply love your logical disconnect. "Someone is on my land, they must be here to harm me". You guns make you big and strong. The fact is that you wouldn't shoot shit if it was crawling up your leg you are so scared.

— On Dec. 15, a Cross Highway resident reported to police that three different parts to her shotgun were missing. She said she last saw them four years ago. — This is from a town which happens to be very near Newtown, CT

You need to think it through. A criminal can't legally buy a gun. We already have a ton of rules in place to prevent him from buying guns. We also have rules in place to prevent him from voting. So, he can't even vote to allow him the right to have a gun. But, he can buy one illegally from a person who can buy one legally. He cal also steal one from someone who bought a gun legally. Criminals steal guns from irresponsible law abiding people. If the guns that are owned by irresponsible law abiding citizens were safely stored, then the criminals couldn't steal them. Irresponsible people leave their guns out or do not store them properly or sell them to the wrong people or give them to the wrong people. Nancy Lanza was one such irresponsible law abiding citizen. The person who sold the assault pistol to one of the Columbine killers was one such person. The friend who gave a gun to David Berkowitz (son of sam) was one such person. We need laws to make these people responsible for their poor actions. You will see many may times homeowners reporting stolen guns and knowing only that the last time they saw guns in the home was 3 months ago. You have an instrument that can kill and you don't know it is missing? Just because you have a right to own a gun, does not give you the right to be irresponsible with it. Your irresponsibility with a gun puts others at risk.

Very nice. I can see why no one is ever able to solve it.

If we had responsible gun owners, all this wouldn't be a problem. There would be no need for laws. Especially not 10,000 laws, but we don't have responsible gun owners. If we had responsible drinkers, we also wouldn't need all the drinking and driving laws. But we don't have enough responsible drinkers. So we need laws.

Duplicate message. Sorry

If you do not mind waiting, I would appreciate more time to try to figure out the answer. I haven't been able to give it more than just passing time. The whole point of a riddle is to figure it out; not to try and give up right away.

Ha ha. You are way off the mark. Cute chick though. Ignorance is bliss.

People make mistakes. I had keys to my parents cars, Both cars. It is all a matter of time before they make a mistake. In the case of a gun case, if it is keys,, then copies can be made. If it is biometrics, then it is a matter of time before it is accidentally left open. You are assuming that your kids are going to be perfectly behaved. I was assuming that mine were not going to be. Better to be safe than sorry. If you have a curious child, then you are going to have to be perfect throughout your life if you are going to have guns in your home. I had guns as an adult, but they were not in my home when I was a kid. My father did not have guns. MMS: Error For what it is worth, the study finds a link between gun ownership in the home and homicide in the home. It does follow intuitively that the more guns the more death by guns. A hard case to argue against unless you force the argument or are trying to push an agenda. I might argue that a gun attracts the boogie man to the home. There was no such thing as meth, as far as I knew, growing up, but I have lost lots of friends to drugs and drug related death and recently several cases of liver sclerosis. I can tell you, confidently, that each case wasn't a result of drugs for drugs sake. It was drugs being taken to mask other problems. I stated that I face a very real possibility that my children can become drug addicts. A statement like that is far from a cop out. If they had to be 21 to buy them at a store, then it would likely be harder to buy than it is to buy them from a guy in an alley like they can now if they wanted them.

Thank you for your interpretation of what the founders were thinking. The interpretation that I was commenting on was the interpretation or misinterpretation of right wing conservative legislators who said it recently and not 200+ years ago. They too believe that our nation is a Cristian nation and should be operated like a Cristian nation.

Biometric cabinets didn't exist when I decided to remove my guns from my home. The options at the time were options that I know I could have foiled as a kid. You are assuming your kids are going to act, perhaps, rationally, as you did as in ' the guns are locked and that means dad doesn't want me to get them so I it is better that I do not try or I can get into trouble." Problem solved. My mind set as a kid was that I would view the safe as a challenge. As in" I know I can get into that and be able to shoot the guns without dad knowing." One way to do it without messing with the safe would be to beg mom to open it so that I can see the guns. I had keys to both my parents cars at 13. I would take cars when they weren't looking. I am fortunate to not have gotten into accidents. But, damn, was it exciting. My kids were more like the latter and unlike me. I probably could have left the guns out in the open and they would never have touched them. I bought my son a wrist rocket (slingshot) about 5 years ago and it came with a dozen ball bearings. There are still about 6 bearings in the package. It isn't interesting to him. I had my slingshot with me at all times until it was broken. I broke thousands of bottles, windows, shot animals, cars, etc. With all things dangerous, I expected and planned for what I thought would be the worst and hoped for the best. It is rational to plan to protect your loved ones, right? In my mind, the exposure to the boogie man was far less of a risk than the exposure of an accident occurring in my home. The data matches what I intuitively understood. If I lived in Honduras, I would probably think differently. There is a very real possibility that I face every day of my kids becoming addicted to drugs. But, if my kids were to become addicts, I would prefer that they be able to buy them safely and and at a reasonable price and produced with quality controls than to buy them in a back alley, at black market prices, and produced in a makeshift basement lab by strung out freaks. I do not need the government to help me to protect my kids or help me teach my kids right from wrong. My wife and I will handle that as best we can. In our home there is no association between having fun and entering an altered state of consciousness. My children were subliminally taught that you can have fun without getting smashed. It is normal for them not to drink. Yes, their peers have learned differently from their parents and that is an obstacle for me. But, to my children, getting drunk at a party is not normal because they have never seen us do it. In my life I take every obstacle as a challenge rather than turn them into a stone wall that I can't surpass.

Guns in a household with children is not a good idea in my book. They are prone to making mistakes. I don't want the mistakes to be fatal. Mock me if you like for caring for my children. If you decide to allow your children to be around deadly weapons that is your risk and your choice. My children are not at risk. Yours are. Where do the bad guys get their guns from? Do they forge them in a garage somewhere? where do they come from? think! No one said you can't have guns. You want to be irresponsible with them and you are irresponsible with them by leaving them around your kids. No one is saying all guns have to be banned. Your thick head keeps thinking it though and I do not know why. Do you really think that guns are the same as other objects? You or your counterpart here made an irrelevant claim that more people are killed with hammers than guns. likely IRA propaganda. Using the same stupid reasoning as the reasoning behind that stupid statement, then doesn't that mean that more boogie men are killed with hammers than are killed with guns too? Shouldn't we then recommend that everyone sleep with a hammer by their bed since they are more likely to successfully defend themselves against a boogie man with a hammer than they will using a gun? Doesn't that mean hammers are more effective than guns? It is very likely, too, that many people who possess both a hammer and a gun end up killing the perpetrator with the hammer and not the gun. Guns, then, are let by the wayside to be stolen and used by bad guys. Dumb ass reasoning works both ways.

This will lead to them getting bigger guns to do their crime. Soon we'll have tanks at schools, patrolled by fighter jets overhead just so you can sleep with your pistol. Brilliant. Tell me more.

Most conservatives are the ones who own guns right? That also makes them the ones who shoot themselves by accident too right? that also makes them the ones who exercise poor judgement and do things like shoot innocent people for carrying a sandwich. You want more of these conservatives guarding kids? Or, are we going to get the conservatives who are gun dealers and let their guns walk out the door without them even knowing it. Or, are we going to get those conservatives who are gun dealers who do not know that a round is still chambered and shoots several people. Those intelligent conservatives? Or are the the conservatives that walk into a gun show with a loaded weapon knowing full well that they are not allowed to walk into a gun show with a loaded weapon. Those conservatives? Or do you mean the conservatives who shoot their own child for robbing the next door neighbor's home. Is that the conservative you want guarding our kids? Or do you want the conservative texas college kids who shoot each other over a parking space. They are in college so they must be relatively smart and trainable right? are those the people who you want teaching and gurading our kids? Gee Whiz. It seems like you have a solid plan I don't want to disarm anyone who is allowed to have a gun. I want you to be responsible with your gun. Is it unreasonable for you to be responsible with an instrument that can kill people? Is it unreasonable to ask you to do everything possible to keep that gun from getting into the wrong hands? is your right to bear arms also your right to act like an irresponsible idiot, allowing your guns to fall into the wrong hands and then let the government figure out how to fix it? It seems to be like you are for big government, Everything you speak of adds expense and compounds the problem. It is the perfectly law abiding, but irresponsible, citizens who allow guns to fall into the wrong hands. Arming everyone will make this worse and it will compound the problem that we are trying to fix. You seem to hold the 2nd amendment up like a shield to protect you from anyone taking away the thing that pacifies you; your gun. As adults we should not need pacification anymore. That stage fades away at around 4 years old. Some still are not mature enough into their teens, but it fades in time. Apparently others never lose the need for pacification.
