  1. Indeed! Certifiable. The other fringe are those who do want all guns confiscated. Most times, the middle wins out with reasonable limits, just like most things in life. So when things swing too far one direction it gets corrected. "Everything in moderation"
  2. This would be great (actually it wouldn't) if it were true: "Free medical care, free or low-cost college, mental health help" The air we breath is free, nothing else in life is. In the USA or in the EUSS European Union of Socialist States.
  3. :thumbs up:I don't have the stat to back it up except to say NYC is set to end 2012 with the lowest murder total for them in 50 years. Tough gun laws and enforcement of them mainly the reason for this achievement.
  4. I try to keep things short and sweet, well short anyway. Who has time for dimestore novels anymore. What I'd like to know is if Republicans, high percent of gun owners, are supposed to be in favor of smaller, less intrusive government (keep yer &^%#!@ hands off my guns) but need a militia size stock of guns under their bed just in case the govmint gets too uppity than why are they so in favor of big military to the point of preferring to see grandma have her SSI check cut than one less missle in a silo in North Dakota. Seems Ron Paul is the only one, of either major party, that thinks we spend too much F&^%$#@ money on the war machine abroad and the war on terror machine here. And it is here or USA, not the homeland. :evil tongue: Any one? Could it be it keeps guns (govmint and citizens) in circulation and the manufacturers in the green.
  5. Yeah, yeah. That's it more guns so we can have less killing. 2 + 2 equals 57 3/5ths now huh? Mo money, mo money, mo guns.
  6. Well as the saying goes ........... Only in America. Well maybe Afghanistan and Syria too. Such good company we keep.
  7. Averages are for average (or below) traders. The only length that is about universally used, by those who use averages, is 200 .......... on a daily basis. Stick around and wait for that to come into play. Large funds maybe care. :hmpf:
  8. NRA's brilliant suggestion post a armed guard (or 2 or 3 or 4 etc) in every school. Now why didn't I think of that. So what happened today after they said ......... not much yesterday: Gunman kills woman at Pa. church, 2 men elsewhere Gunman kills woman at Pa. church, 2 men elsewhere - Nation - The Boston Globe So ........ I guess we need to put armed gunmen in every church. And armed gunmen in every supermarket ........... and in every etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.
  9. Yes I know and agree completely. The nutz like to point out high crime cities that put in place tough restrictions as failures when in the grand scheme of things these are just specks on a map surrounded by a mass of states where weaponry is freely available over the counter at WalMart, good old boy Bubba's Gun Shack and "gun shows". There are more places of business that see guns in America than Starbucks locations.
  10. They got the message - to go to North Carolina and elsewhere to buy their assault weapons and bring them back to the hood and commit their crimes. Should have stayed in the area they bought from and killed (or be killed) there instead. But you go with what you know. Either way ignorance all around.
  11. Oh I didn't notice. He may be originally. I just know, as far as I remember, he was based in Nepal uh uh I mean Las Vegas years ago.
  12. I stopped believing in the fantasy of religion oh about the age of 15. It took till age 19 to throw in the towel on the tooth fairy though. But I have heard of Christians and Muslims attacking others. Not any Buddyist so Steve you're ok in my book. Hey why'd you leave Vegas? Too decadent.
  13. Yes and don't let anyone tell you differently.
  14. Read it again. The quote in his autobiography is from the leaflet originally. And read where I said I found these comments. Not wrote them. Just like you found the quote to begin with. So go ahead make yourself feel all warm and fuzzy believing a complete and total pacifist believes, by insinuation, that Americans should have assault rifles for "protection and sport". Just make sure if you have any Jack's or Jill's in family to dress them in their armor-proofing children's outfits before sending them off to the school bus-stop each morning.
  15. Two comments I found without looking very hard: "Arms" in this context were military arms not the personal weapons of private individuals. The context of "depriving of the whole nation of arms" was the refusal of the British to conscript Indians into the British Army during the First World War. Gandhi was an extreme anti-militarist. The statement is odd coming out of him, but he used the circumstance for political purposes to advance the cause of Home Rule and Independence" and "Your quote, though interesting, is taken way out of context. This is actually an excerpt from a leaflet Gandhi was passing around to gain recruits to fight for Britain during World War I. Organizers of a war conference, which Gandhi wanted to attend, quoted the leaflet as a way of illustrating that their political views differed from Gandhi's. In order to boot the British out of India, Gandhi engaged in many savvy, polemical activities designed to move India toward Home Rule. Distribution of this leaflet was apparently one of them. He certainly did not include the leaflet quote in his autobiography to support any opinion, one way or the other, on gun control. Reading the quote in context makes this crystal, sparkling clear. The passage in which the quote occurs has absolutely nothing to do with gun control or gun legislation. Furthermore, to the best of my knowledge, at no point in Gandhi's 90-volume collected writings does he ever express a belief in an individual's right to keep and bear arms. It would certainly be weird if he did. If Gandhi will be remembered for anything, it will be for his passionate dedication to two principles. The first is ahimsa, a Hindu vow to never consciously injure another living creature. The second is satyagraha, the belief that non-violent methods are the only methods that should ever be used to resist injustice and tyranny. The leaflet quote simply doesn't reflect Gandhi's actual beliefs in any way." And I would hope and expect anyone else who is a buddist or for that matter a follower of any religion or spiritual calling. I know it is not the case. But in those situations the belief is .... hypocrisy.
  16. Oh I know, just like every other TL thread, TA or otherwise.
  17. Whaaaaaaaaat? And an advocate for gun ownership.
  18. And women the right to vote as well as white men that weren't land owners and ...... and ...... Test of time, hmmmmmm. matrix doesn't accept the notion of an imperfect union continuing striving to improve.
  19. Why not? You and I can't. But Gates, Buffett and other billionaires surely can if they so wished and were allowed.
  20. You mean the son was supposed to knock off dear old dad instead of mom? And the elementary school was just a cover. Edited laughing smiley out because the story (the real one) isn't a laughing matter:
  21. FB is futile. And infantile too.
  22. If I want Dumb and Dumber I watch Jim Carrey and Jeff Bridges. But I did see the opening min or two of this first video though and why do you suppose the Clinton assault weapon ban bill was so convoluted? One word. Lobbyists. The ones who should have an assault weapon or two used on. Here ya go NRA, let's see you dance. Or do the worm like a six-year old on a classroom floor with a dozen bullets in you. Funny picture, huh?
  23. I suppose crackhead Charlie Sheen thinks a Bloomberg news article passing for facts these days too.
  24. You want facts. Lead by example.
