  2. This is an old ‘legend’ that at one time actually had more basis than now. Way back when, there were few “hot” systems being sold at any given time and the public participation in their implementation could be literally seen as ‘fads’. In the brokerage business (pre–internet days), I’ve witnessed the orders come in bunches for the “hot” system. Much, much more dilution today… The systems themselves didn’t actually degrade. Adding some precision - the ‘rulership’ they were exploiting passed and another one took it’s place. Many, if not most, of these system themselves were still very good (some of them great!) – when applied in the correct ‘rulership’…ie not necessarily robust across ‘rulerships’ but still very good… … And of course, as the ‘edge’ faded, ‘professionals’ started to fade the orders coming in from those who had committed to the ‘through thick and thin, new equity highs and drawdowns’ way of trading a system. So, the legends have basis … but today much, much more dilution and variability in the implementation of publicly available systems … re It’s pretty safe to say that truly excellent systems are never made available to the public at any price. Compared to just trading it, marketing and supporting it is simply not worth the hassle ! ... It’s also pretty safe to (generally) say that the ‘robust’ systems – the ones that do continue to profit through multiple (but never all, btw) types of ‘rulerships’ are really not that ‘valuable’… ie they aren’t really innovative ie you don’t need to buy them. You can just roll your own and do well - provided you are ‘unadventurous’ and patient, etc. enough to stick with it… jmo based on extensive anecdotal experience on both ends of the systems for sale bs
  3. but … but… :haha: All too often, when you’re looking at a chart to get in, it’s “trending”… as soon as you’re in, that same chart is suddenly just “ranging”. What just happened? and Not to nit pick the nit picking but to clarify for beginners… It might be more accurate to say each ‘rulership’ is different from the last instead of “Each cycle is different from the last one” (The alternation between rulerships is cyclical ... not as linear as we would like of course - but still ‘cyclical’) A ‘rulership’ is a weighted combination of distinct ‘crowds’ - with sufficient extremes in individual weighting to allow them to be Typed into a limited number of general categories. re There are many ways of coping with that “not as linear as we would like” issue. Many, if not most, traders note / observe / perceive this phenomenon (actually it’s these phenomena) to varying levels, but on the first few thousand attempts at understanding it, experience increasing, even more unpredictable, chaotic morass – and do not find the ”beauty” at all. :crap: So they settle, declare it unnecessary, and try to find methods that discount / go around / do not incorporate these ‘cycles’ at all…

  6. Who in their right mind would sponser this ? In light of the recent uptick in racial tensions… I’m thinking a bunch of the more activist / non complacent blacks are starting to realize that while he pays pretty good lip service to their agenda, Obama is really the epitome of the white man. The only thing they got electing him was black skin color – past the ‘black studies’ bullshit, he doesn’t think black, he literally can’t think black. Electing him hasn’t done one thing to change that the black masses were just shuttled from the “1%’s” plantations to the “1%’s” cities and then ‘forced into dependence’ only for their votes… tangent / related... http://www.blacklistednews.com/Of_Prophets%2C_Power%2C_and_the_Purpose_of_Intellectuals%3A_Class_War_and_the_College_Crisis/18939/0/0/0/Y/M.html
  7. mohs, kudos! nice work. some thoughts… re “Anything fully experienced will soon vanish!” Deepest, wisest thing posted on this forum in years! “Anything fully experienced will soon vanish!” and, as I have been suggesting in my posts about flow, anything not fully experienced will NOT soon vanish! It will form an unnecessary armor, an energy block ‘out’ in your body that forever limits your neural functionality... One possible tweak…it is not necessary to place emphasis toward compassionate self nurturing with the mistakes, the thoughts, etc … with that part of the issue a more neutral, dispassionate simple observation is better. ie Definitely deal with 'mistakes' but ... No need to “embrace” your mistakes in the specific form of non judgementally working with “those negative thoughts”. It is only really necessary to ‘embrace’ the emotions behind and accompanying those thoughts… ‘embracing’ in the form of just being with them as they are without condition … truly completes your release of the 'event' into “Anything fully experienced will soon vanish!” All the best, zdo
  8. Update: The ‘big four’ brought forth for trading ( and actually ALL the archetypes) are powerful, emotionally rooted, capacities. …this way doesn’t bring freedom from emotion… more… it’s freedom of emotion… actions made strong and coherent by emotions’ involvement and contribution… just sometimes ?? … this work opens a numinous realm that can sometimes have the feel of ‘beyond mere mortal’… :haha:I guess that’s why they call them archetypes and develop myths around them, etc ? … ... The work becomes bringing forth the best constellation of these energy conduits for each situation... :helloooo:…AND YET!!!!!! you must not identify with any of them !!!!!! btw… Rande, Yours is already a tiny niche and what you offer is not so much for beginners (which this forum has had a large uptick in…) I know not much will head into your pipeline from here, but please keep at least a minimum presence in here. ie show up every month or so .. so that those who are really ready for this level of work have you as a option. All the best. zdo

Why do you need to process it as strings? Wouldn’t it be better to leave all the permutations in binary data type, process them, and maybe only convert the final outputs to string data type ? btw. Ultimately you will need to put routines like this to a dll and also restrict when it is run (ie definitely not on every tick ) hth

  19. Of many answers, here is just one. Because you may be trading only with the trend of a larger timeframe. This entry didn’t work… instead of reversing, you would stop out and wait for the next “Price Action" "setup” If I hear "it's system dependent" one more time...
  20. Re: trading without a stop loss There was no “trading without a stop loss” advice coming from me. I’ll repeat my advice for the beginners - Generally, if you’re not going to be at your tradestation watching a position, set the stop. The cost of it getting hit is on balance lower than the alternative ‘costs’ re: Please tell us of a trading system that is not a time bomb that does not use stop losses. Quite a few break out type systems perform better across time with no stops set. Losses are taken by reversing if next signal is opposite direction. re Please limit the response to trading and not investing. Not sure where or how you’re drawing the line between them, so… The only distinctions I make between the two is the level of my direct involvement in operations and the liquidity of the instrument (ie real estate is the only activity close to 'investing' I do and everything else is a 'trade'.) For the post, an up near the cusp example is the varieties of scale trading. It's definitely not a good example for beginners, but it is in reality an example of a viable system and is only a "time bomb" if capitalization and sizing are off.

  25. FXGirl, re “sustained flow. Perhaps you could clarify that for me. What is the price?” Let’s make the paradigm distinctions clear: Flow as the exception and Flow as the norm. RozTom’s post #114 epitomizes the flow as the exception paradigm, but all the on - topic posts herein are based in that paradigm. Reading the rest of your post, with the content like “I’ve experienced it surfing… I’ve experienced it as a cop… I’ve experienced it in deep meditation… I’ve experienced it as a trader” , etc., it sounds to me like you are securely crowded into the flow as the exception paradigm where flow is a spontaneous or situation bound systemic response of “getting out of the way and letting it take me over”. “Getting out of the way” is not a reliable possibility “if the first body is not clear” “You will / may have ‘flashes’ of flow, but you have NO chance of living in flow.” Post #103. In the flow as the norm paradigm, ““Flow is your natural state… your birthright…” Scott Sonnen. It is nothing special really. … One is either in Flow or in bound-flow While there are gradients to bound flow The transition between flow and bound-flow is a discrete quanta” Post #103 Re: What is the price? "Clearing bound flow in the first body: Simply – mindfully find and fully exhale into all your bindings. “One” at a time – until they are all gone. I put quotes around “One” because they actually always come as a connected group… but that only becomes obvious after you start getting into the subtleties of the work. Use the breath to ‘relax’ into challenging physical positions. The work is simple, but difficult. Done properly, the rate of perceived effort and discomfort is quite high. NO pain! (but) EXTREME discomfort. ... How do you know when you have cleared your bindings? You’ll be in flow. ie you never do ‘try’ to get into flow. The doing you do is to clear the bound flow…" Post #103 Someone mentioned yoga. From the etiology of some of the yoga words I suspect original yoga was about the flow as the norm paradigm, but modern day ‘western’ yoga has been so corrupted it’s now just a ‘stress’ reducer and ‘health’ assist, etc... and odds of finding an instructor who is grounded in flow as the norm paradigm are extremely low… However, utilizing the serious yoga postures themselves are a viable avenue for identifying specific types of bound flow clusters in the body… but the practice of clearing bindings slows to the individual’s pace and place instead of keeping up with a stream of postures. Clearing bound flow in the first body is hard work. Should you be attracted to trying on this paradigm, you would need to make a fairly open ended total commitment to finding and clearing all the bound flow in the first body and also develop ways to ‘dis-create’ in real time, instead of forming new bindings. Gotta go…Trailing off with short blurbs now - hopefully they don't cloud things… just review the on–topic posts for examples if these aren’t clear … it’s sometimes a temptation to get all psychological and consider the egos’ ‘evil’ roles. ... “Devils snare” ... the various developmental fight / "surrender", fear / "trust" turns we have taken in various stages, etc. ... avoiding discomforts, etc or "paying the price" by heading right into them like harry did ... … or fall back into the flow as the exception paradigm and attempt to meditate, train, or entrain your mind to take you to ‘body-theta’ (not a real word, btw ) … ironically, ‘exception flows’ can then become ‘obstacles’ in the whole of the process Hope this clarifies for you. If not - I've disrupted this thread too much already so - let's take it PM... (not selling anything, btw) All the best, zdo.
