    Hi

    Funny... seems okay to me.
  2. Thank you for the good information
  3. I highly recommend starting off with more risk capital. If $1000 is all you can afford to open an account, you're chances are close to zero in succeeding.
  4. When studying price movements, can the same strategies be applied to both an uptrending market and a downtrending market? Does anyone use different strategies when going long or short?
  5. Very true! Trading is probably the only advanced career that literally anybody can step into without the proper training. This makes it harder than most profession that requires higher education. So be prepared newtrader! Success in trading takes alot of work especially because you are on your own. Good luck.
  6. Have you done a search in this forum? There are plenty of good threads, charts, and videos on the opening gap. Go to Search and type in "Gap" or "Opening Gap".
  7. I like to use moving average clusters. They work fairly well on 5 minute charts. I also analyze volume. I will take a look at the last 5 days of trading action and if I see high volume spikes with a price reversal, I will mark those levels as significant.
  8. Here's the link for the trading terms. http://www.traderslaboratory.com/forums/derivatives/83-trading-terms-tony-crabel-nr7-ws7-etc.html#post101
  9. You can try using Bollinger Bands. When they become narrow, there is a chance price will breakout in either direction. Also the NR7 tactic. If the price range is minimum for the last 7 days, the breakout is likely to be real.
  10. Jacob, just make sure you don't overtrade and risk too much that can cripple your account. Risking 2% a trade is okay... but what if you lose 10 trades in a row? That is 20% loss of your capital. Now you will need to make 25% of your capital to break even. Make sure you have reliable setups. Good luck

    Hi people!

I am the first female trader in this forum! I started trading equities 3 years ago and I still have a long way to go. Hoping to learn alot from this forum!
  12. I noticed the markets went from weak to strong. If your bias for the morning session is on the short side, isnt it relatevely hard to switch your strategy? The markets traded below the value area jus to recover all its decline and end up positive for the day. How do you adjust your strategy in this case?
  13. What are the overnight session hours that you use to retreive the highs and lows?
  14. I recommend Mark Douglas as well. Probably the best of its kind. Good luck
  15. Yep I find the 200 MA working like magic on a 5 minute chart.
  16. They do seem tough but some the guys in this forum seem to do fairly well trading the eminis. There seems to be a totally different concept and strategy when trading futures. Very fast, very unpredictable, and hard to use tight stops.
  17. 1. Undercapitalization 2. Lack of discipline 3. Mentally lazy 4. LLack of perseverance 5. Poor strategy 6. Trading on emotion
