ok i follow you but what about staggered time frames on a 5 minute chart? latency of platform laid aside should we not all be looking at the exact same info at the same time? If so, how does staggered time frames on a 5 minute chart take place like was mentioned in this thread? thanks

all the discipline in the world won't help a losing, non viable, strategy become a winning strategy. sticking strictly to the rules of a losing strategy will just make a person become an expert loser.

perhaps i misunderstood what you were saying about staggered time frames? i understood you and joshdance as saying if i am 2 minutes ahead of you then potentially my high or low could be different than yours? that would create many thousands of different trend lines...support ...resistance lines...IF my high/low can be different that yours on a five minute chart of the same instrument thus rendering any support resistance as basically useless.. in other words there would be no stable reference points for all our measurements if my 10:00 am to 10:05 am five minute chart has a different high/low/open/close than your five minute chart i.e. i could be looking at a different support resistance than yours...etc. so what where you saying?

ok good..if you have staggered time frames on the same 5 minute chart then i will have, or could potentially have, a different OHLC than you correct?? if your 1 minute ahead of me the your close will be different right? your high could potentially be different correct or am i missing something here? i understood joshdance and mr horseshoe as saying two different people could have different 5 minute time frames. I suppose they were saying depending when they each logged on??? but i thought the 5 minutes were set by the exchange..that is the day session is divided into 5 minute time frames and everyone is looking at the same 5 minute time frame regardless of when you log on? we are all seeing the same info..of course there could be some latency depending on platform but we will have have the same OHLC to see. maybe i have misunderstood what they were saying?? so explain to me just what they were saying?

Mr Shanghai in PRC isn't it incredulous, amazing, and humorous that only you and I question such a concept that would end TA as we know it?

as a person that travels alot in other countries and interacts with cultures i would say none of us can ever see all things as they really are. our w.v. influences many things much of which is unconcious or just taken for granted. however, interaction with others does broaden our capacity to see things from another angle. like me, i relate much trading to moto riding because that is part of my world. see my posts in mitsubishi's red/green team thread..i get ridiculed for it but if you haven't ridden a moto you may not understand... reality, many timesl is too radical so we can't see it or accept it completely. plus not all we do see is necessary to survival or success. much of our interpretation of reality is done through the the lenses of our culture..from which we get our values, beliefs, behaviour.

why is everyone against picking the best cherries? they taste the best..why would a trader pick a half green cherry just to be statistically correct? all you have to do is have a mechanism that identifies the best cherries....

doomsday for TA. don't wake me up..leave me alone..i can't even entertain such a horrendous thought...akin to all out nuclear warfare...it will be when the lights go out....all becomes meaningless..i can't live that way....please just leave me alone in my dream world....let me believe something that may not be true...if staggered time frames are true i can't face the consequences...like Willy Nelson once said, if I recall correctly, "if they take trigger i'm done for"
-
does anybody on here REALLY believe in staggered intraday time frames? what about daily staggered time frames?? weekly?? monthly??? think about what that one concept does to everything.....
-
if close is meaningless then all is meaningless. what is support resistence based on? patterns? staggered time frames? how would that affect support resistance? high , low, open, all meaningless. TF all meaningless. mathematical calculations all meaningless... because...different staggered time frames BS...fib meaningless..... gaps meaningless...all kinds of charts..meaningless...staggered TF invalidates all measurements....computer sync invalidates all measurements....no real reference points...all is meaningless....fruitless..a waste of time...send your money to me...i will give it some meaning on daily and 5 minute charts..... this is all BS....time to get on my moto and ride away...leaving the land of dipsticks...adios....

maybe it was kinda of a quality statement?? Perhaps it was a compliment...japanese trucks are much better in the mud and off the road jungle stuff...much better than fords..chevrolets...dodges...i know from having run them in central america in the jungles....the other three will carry more but don't hold a candle to 4 wheeling in the mud in the jungles. perhaps he also uses candlesticks which are better than bar charts....so the japanese truck statement can be a compliment and quality statement. no need to worry about a japanese truck statement ....it doesn't mean he was mocking his friend. i ride a moto and get mocked on this forum... but i don't care..its funny to me....at least i am free....i can place a trade in a cyber cafe ....crank silver queen up and sail on down the road with wind blowing in my face enjoying life while those that laugh at me are wringing their hands in front of their computer screens hopng to get out of the next trade alive...while i'm riding the profits can be rolling and others are crying.....
-
shoot boys..flip a coin. heads go long. tails short..slap a stop loss in there and a profit target ...take a ride on the moto ...results will be there soon enough.

there are always exceptions however, volume does tell a story. we have to ask ourself do prices go up "most" of the time on high volume or low volume. its not a matter of, do they occasionally do so. i take it you are a pure PA person in the strictest sense of the word.

could you please tell me what anituchka means?

Image 1 Bar 47 is not a signal bar. Remember a signal bar is the bar talking you into trade. If it makes the setup and you take a position then it becomes the entry bar. Bar 47 qualifies for neither. It would not have been talking me into taking a position, Bar 49 is an H1 and is first a signal bar as it approaches going higher than bar 48..i.e. it begins to talk me into the trade. Then it becomes an entry bar when it goes 1 tick past bar 48 and I get long. While this too is near the moving average it is a bit more risky but since then trend is fairly strong I would take the risk and take a position on bar 49. A second opportunity is bar 50. Image 2 Bar 45 is a signal bar that becomes a H2 entry bar once it went 1 tick past bar 44. Bar 43 is an H1. Bar 44 is the second leg of the pullback. Hope that helps. Image 2 - Bar 50 would only be a signal bar if it was approaching going above bar 49 which it didn't. Bar 51 is an H1, Bar 53 would be a signal bar H2 and a better entry off the moving average. Bar 55 would actually be the another entry bar (an H3) off near the moving average. Safer trades off moving average is H2 and the H3. Riskier trade would have been long on bar 51 (H1). Remember all bars are either trend bars or range bars in Al's scheme of things. Doji's are trading range bars. Any bar with a goodsize body is a trend bar. Now about colors. If you are looking to go long it would be less risky to stick with signal bars that are the same color as the trend you are trying to capture. For instance, in image 1 bar 47 is a red trend bar. It also never approached breaking the high of the previous bar. So it is not a good signal bar. Bar 49 is the right color bar and it talks me into the trade especially when it breaks the high of bar 48. Please see picture attached for a more detailed brooks explanation of your questions. Just kidding!

May I suggest the Patuca motorcycle fund as the charity to receive your funds? Thank you!

oh no a steve46 and now a steve66. who will be steve86?

hello Mit. I see you and steve46 are in good moods today. I refer the 8 month trader to the two posters that can help him navigate through this malarky he has found himself in and i get attacked. mr 8 month trader i am hereby withdrawing my recomendations. DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT follow the advice or systems that my two fellow posters make. as you can see they are quite emotional and we all know emotions do not work in the markets for successful traders. i expect more unsavory posts about me as the two kiddos pitch a fit. i may just have to get on moto and ride away into the setting sun which would probally suit them just fine. however..."i'll be back" as the movie actor says from your neck of the woods steve46 steve with his endless reverting back and mit with his e mini cooper and many math calculations make the perfect pair to keep the comedy show going but alas there is a huge pond that separates them. I leave it to 8 month trader to decide when one of them receives the "top rooster" trader of the month award. work hard boys if you want the reward! all you have to do is take a real beating in the market like you did last month or was that the last 24 months?:missy:
-
oh shucks! I thought i was helping by referring him to two of our finest posters on TL.

Too long. Especially if you ride a motorcyle like me. May I suggest: 1) Be profitable 2) Blame no one 3) Be profitable
-
or you could listen to mr steve46 and never blow another account LOL. with his reversion strategy you will soon be "in the money". just be humble and show no superior intelligence..

Please listen to Mitsubishi aka livermore II. He openly claims to have blown 6 accounts. Experience speaks here..he he ha ha
